The Sandringham Hotel
Ranked #18 of 28 Hotels in Weston-super-Mare
Reviewed 17 July 2014

This is probably the most bitterseet review I've written.

Stayed for 2 nights and, never having been to Weston-super-Mare, didn't realize how closely the Sandringham matches the town: old, mostly behind the times, but with a multitude of charms not often found.

First, the negatives: An old lift akin to a freight elevator where two gates must be closed upon exit or it's essentially useless. Leaving stairs that go up and down for no reason, and no continuous staircase from top to bottom. Postage-stamp sized single room with no place to open a suitcase. No air-conditioning (or screen if you open the window) or in-room internet.

But the place is a beautiful relic of an older time, with first-rate service, food and atmosphere. The pub has local (and good) entertainment at night, interrupted by bingo! The service (Karen) and camaraderie in the dining room is first-class as well. And there's a lovely lounge (where the internet works fine).

Finally, you can't beat the location, right across from the Grand Pier and an easy walk to shopping and restaurants. And great views of the very gently sloping beach where the tide seems to go about half-a-mile.

Not sure if I'd stay again, but it was an unusual respite, and a time to be fondly remembered.

Room Tip: There are a few downstairs rooms where you don't have to worry about the lift.

We went to the Sandringham at Weston Super Mare with Travelstyle We went on a three night stay Fri to Monday. On arrival we were given our key and we went to our room we found the room was fine for our needs. everywhere was very clean and tidy
The food was tasty An extensive choice of starters, mains and desserts What made it such a happy stay for us a bunch of ladies from Nottingham they were fantastic company dancing singing and generally entertaining everyone else Thank you girls !
The Staff especially Nikki and Zoe were fabulous and so friendly they went out of their way to ensure everyone were happy also Phil the night porter was helpful and we really enjoyed ourselves ...Although the breaks are aimed at an older generation than us we would go back again

We stayed at the Sandringham 27th and 28th June. We were there for the air show. Having stayed at the Sandringham before we knew what to expect. The Hotel is basic but very nice and the food is very good too. We were disappointed at the lack of entertainment. Last time we stayed there it was winter but both nights had entertainment on. However this time there was none. When we asked why we were told its because everyone went out at night, there were quite a few elderly people there who i'm sure didn't go out. If the hotel had put entertainment on people would have stayed. As it was we had to go to another Hotel both nights for entertainment. Very disappointed and will not stay there again.

We stayed here with our group - People with Parkinson's, their partners and friends, on a coach holiday from Sunday 22nd June to Friday 27th June. All I can say is....we had a great time.
The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff we ABSOLUTELY fantastic.......the waiting staff were so brilliant, couldn't have done any more for us than they did. The food was plentiful and varied, and very tasty.
Our room had a good view overlooking the crazy golf, and we could see the sea and Grand Pier. The room was very clean, the furniture was comfortable, and our en-suite was clean, with a lovely shower.
On our day of departure, all the waiting staff came out to wave us off....which was really lovely, never had that before from the hotels we have stayed in as a group in the past.
Thank You to ALL the staff at The Sandringham....we hope we will be able to come again.

Room Tip: No swimming pool or fitness centre, so hence the terrible !!!!

We had the pleasure to stay at this hotel from Mon 16 to Fri 20 June. The location is very good , the room was a little tired, the food was excellent on both breakfast and dinner, the staff were all friendly, polite from the receptionist to the waitresses and room cleaners. All in all a very pleasant stay, would recommend this hotel to anyone

I first visited the Sandringham Weston Supermare at Easter 2013 and I really enjoyed my Weekend stay so much with Travelstyle Coach Holidays that I returned there again in The Summer of 2013 and my expectations were fulfilled, on both Weekends my single room was excellent and on both occasions had a fantastic sea view, the rooms were excellent well fitted comfortable beds very clean en suites were ist class, also the position of the Hotel is brilliant because it is nearly opposite the pier so it is really central the food was very good and the restaurent staff were very polite and helpful so I am very pleased to say that I had to good Weekend breaks at The Sandringham, I am looking into returning there again this Year

Room Tip: If you are having a single room try and get a sea view one on the front it is amazing

Karen and Nicky in the dining room were both great. Unfortunately the receptionists were less helpful. A warning if you go to this hotel - there is no car park but they will give you a ticket for the NCP car park in the town, what they might not tell you is that the ticket only works once - then you are left paying full price of £13.10. The receptionist will tell you that this has never happened before - it has - it happened to us.
