“Poor menu choice and poor value for money”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Stopped for a meal here on the way through Llanrwst. I am always slightly dubious when asked to pay for a meal in advance, rather than after. There was a choice of maybe 10 mains, however 3 were not available. On the menu were 3 types of burger, 2 pasta (1 veggie), 2 fish, a curry, a steak and rack of lamb. Prices were ok, mostly £8 to £10, a bit more for lamb and steak. We ordered 1x burger, 1x fish and 1x rack of lamb. The burger and fish were ok, but the side salad consisted of sliced lettuce, 1 tiny slice of cucumber and 2 slivers of tomato, so that was inadequate. The rack of lamb was appalling, consisting of 2 tiny rack chops with a couple of mouthfuls of meat on each. We decided to complain and the chef came to our table, he was very defensive and said that he had not received any other complaints and the portion size was the same for everybody. We pointed out that it was not a rack of lamb, he offered to take the meal away and bring a different main course, but not to bring extra lamb or offer a discount. We did not want to wait for another main course, so we had to accept it. The measure of a company is how they deal with complaints and this was very poor. We will not be eating there again.

On a visit to Llanrwst wales this month we decided to find somewhere for Sunday lunch we were recommended several places ,but the one that took our fancy was the eagle hotel Llanrwst reasons being the location being riverside also Sunday lunch his a carvery which myself and my wife enjoy.
Although the price of the main course, was I thought somewhat expensive (£9.95)
we decided to have lunch there.
Because thinking of the price and the hotel location this would be value for money expecting to have to wait for a table , we booked in advance and arrived 30mins earlier as I feared I would not get a parking space .
On arrival parking was not a concern the time was 13-20pm there were only 4 tables taken the rest were empty .
We were told our table was ready as soon as we entered we could see the food on the counter
but couldn't really define what was what until we were close up the waitress had to go and get he chef to serve us . we were expecting freshly cooked joints of Lamb, Turkey, Honey Roasted ham
to be carved in front of us as we have had at other establishments instead there were several towers of cut Lamb cut Turkey and Honey roasted ham at an height of 6" or more, not covered fly's landing on it I mentioned this to the chef but I was ignored. It was quite obvious that this meat although edible was not a fresh roasted joint it had no taste and was bland I think they call it in the trade as formed meat (proccessed) the slices of meat I was given reminded me of the packed meat you get in the supermarket which is OK but I wasn't at a supermarket I was at carvery for Sunday lunch where I would expect meat to be sliced of a real joint and I would expect a chef to carve it.
For £9-95 I expected more from this establishment from the outside it looks good has it is in a good location and that the standard and quality would be high but not so.

Terrible experience.

Stayed there for 2 nights and didn't have much sleep, because the pub downstairs was open until early in the morning.

The owners probably make a lot of money from the pub during the weekends. However, if they intend to open the bar this late, they should not take paying guests.

Came back home absolutely shattered and the whole weekend was spoilt.

Would not recommend to anyone.

This Hotel is a perfect location for a wedding reception or any excuse for a great party. The hotel proprietors and staff work so hard from the organisation of the event through to the big day ensuring a good time is had by all. We had a total number of 150 guests who were treated to excellent food, good wine and local beers with exclusive use of the whole hotel. The setting is superb overlooking the old Llanrwst bridge and the river Conwy with the Ty Hwnt y Bont ivy covered cottage in the background. Drinking Champagne in the hotel grounds next to the river whilst listening to a Welsh Harpist is an experience we will never forget.

The bedrooms have been recently beautifully refurbished in keeping with the vintage of the fine old building.

If you want a hotel who is interested in your day as opposed to just taking your cash then go to the Eagles. The Eagles is a hidden gem.

Stayed here with a group of friends, for a wedding celebration. We all enjoyed our time here, the location is excellent, lovely child friendly garden on the side of the river. The food was very good, the full welsh breakfast was delicious, but quite a challenge. The Eagles is close to local shops, and only twenty minutes drive to Conwy and the coast, which get very busy,so it was nice to get away from the crowds. The greatest asset is the staff, and management, who were exceptionally helpful, polite and friendly.I would stay here again.

During a tour of North Wales stayed two nights at The Eagles Hotel, we had not booked and called on spec, the owners had taken over within the last couple of years. We were shown a couple of rooms -a Executive Double Room and a Double Room, both looked excellent- the Executive had a lovely large shower in the en-suite, but we chose the Double Room that seemed equally lovely (maybe not quite as big) but had a nice big bath with shower in the en-suite,we chose this room as my wife prefers a leisurely bath. The Hotel is in the centre of Llanrwst, and we looked out to the front, and despite seeing the traffic we were not aware of any traffic noise. Plenty of parking and a central location, plus the owners are both very attentive, friendly. We stayed mid week and did not experience any noise disturbance from the bar.

Had an amazing day at the Eagles Hotel on 31st May 2014 celebrating the wedding of Tom & Sonia.
The staff, food and the grounds of the Hotel were amazing.

Big thank you to all.

Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of a wedding celebration. We didn't stay over but many of the guest did and were absolutely delighted with everything.
I have been told the Sunday Carvery is fantastic will defiantly be going back soon.
