The Meadowsweet Hotel

Certificate of Excellence

A fine establishment run by a nice couple Mary & Nelson who have been commended and also won their round of the Channel 4 television contest ‘Four in a Bed’.
We were two couples who stayed there for four nights in June in their deluxe bedrooms. The rooms were tastefully decorated with lovely views and with little extras (dressing gowns, slippers, wine, sweets & biscuits) that we did not expect.
The staff very polite and helpful, especially Thomas who looked after us at breakfast.
The only criticism that I have is that the hotel is on the main road between Betws y-coed and Conwy and the traffic did wake me up early in the mornings. However it was quiet during the night and did afford me a good night sleep.
I am happy to recommend this hotel as a base if you are visiting Snowdonia or even the whole of North Wales as you can drive to all parts easily.

After a week in a dreadful hotel "further north", we decided on a 4-day stopover in north Wales on our way home. The Meadowsweet was a great find. Although the room was at the top of three flights of stairs, the owner carried our bags up for us without protest. The room was great, very tastefully and interestingly furnished (as was the rest of the hotel) with all the usual facilities. The food was both reasonably priced and really excellent. We normally try not to eat in a hotel, but in this case we were persuaded otherwise. Staff very friendly, and the owner pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and location great for driving around Snowdonia.

Room Tip: We only stayed in room 8, and did not examine the others (full!!). A well proportioned double with p...

Quiet hotel accommodation with excellent cooked breakfast. Comfortable with tea and coffee available in all rooms. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. Weather was awful, but we still managed to enjoy our stay.

From the general manager to the dining room to the bedrooms, The Meadowsweet just impresses on all accounts. We made a last minute decision to visit Snowdonia and could not have had a more pleasant stay. Wholeheartedly recommend this fine establishment.

I am currently sat in this fine establishment. I am slightly drunk and I have this to report:

- Bed: 10/10. Super springy. The texture of a fine toffee sponge.

- Food: 10/10. Moist tasty and like sponge. Super absorbent yet tasty when required.

- Host: 10/10. Herculean efforts from Front of House Nelson. A local celeb. No sign of the Mrs. Nelson is devoted to 24 hour service. Lucky Mrs N

- Location: 10/10. Too many chav tastics on Mount Snowdon. However, who cares about Snowdon when it's a 20 minute drive to the base camp? Not us. We just enjoyed a local walk around the lakes and forestry trails of some unprouncable Welsh back road. Check out the B5019. I think.

We are very grateful for each of our reviews, but I have to say this is the first one that made me laugh out loud. Thanks for putting a chuckle in my morning.

I stayed at this hotel in early Feb with family in 4 other rooms also.We couldn't have asked for a better stay and we're made to feel extremely welcome.Rooms 2 & 3 are amazing. All rooms are spotlessly clean and welcoming.Nelson is a fabulous host and catered to our every need. There was a great breakfast range and Nelson was also more than happy to cook individual meals for us..Just a great hotel in a great location!!5*

Room Tip: 2 & 3 are the best with great views of the welsh countryside
