Easiest way to find is across green and through palace yard.
Many fond memories, pleased to find it largely unspoiled.
Real ales include Tim Taylor Landlord, Tribute, Doom Bar and Otter. Reasonable wine list.Nice sitting out both front and back. Is the springer spaniel resident?
Food from £4.95, soup through sandwiches at £7.50 up to main courses £11 to £16.

Decided to meet with some friends in Richmond, they suggested the White swan, luckily we booked as it was very busy but the service was still fast, professional and friendly. Great food, lovely Sauvignon blanc and some great ales, will be visiting this little gem again soon!

Met with friends in Richmond for a drink. We walked around for a short while until we stumbled across the White Swan which is at the side of the old Richmond Palace. It is a very small, cosy and idyllic pub with a lots of history. It has a small outside area at the front, but a larger beer garden at the back. The food menu looks great and they have a good selection of wine/ beers and spirits. They also serve hot beverages which is a welcoming sight on a chilly day. Luckily for us the evening was warm, therefore wine and beers was the order of the day. The staff are very attentive , even sharing historical information about the pub. After walking around the beautiful Richmond Park, then Richmond riverside, please make an effort to find this hidden treasure...it is really worth it!!

Lovely location, and nice relaxed weekday lunchtime atmosphere. As other reviewers have said, it's baby and dog friendly.
Our issue was with our main courses - friend had rather dry risotto cakes, I had lamb. Not sure what cut, maybe rather fatty chump - lots of bits, one or two were edible but chewy, not tender. I left most of it. Not very good gravy swamping the meat and green beans (taste, and gloopy bits).
We were given free desserts in compensation, no quibbling, but would have preferred our mains to have been better - or a discount! Didn't want to ruin nice atmosphere for us or others by haggling.
Waitress was friendly and helpful apart from forgetting our final drinks order, so we didn't bother with that, and didn't bother with coffee either. I would go back, on the basis of location and ambience, but would be careful choosing food.

I visited 'The White Swan' earlier this week with friends and lots of little babies and all the paraphernalia that they come with!! The staff were very accommodating and helpful, and made us feel welcome! There was a lovely open fire which was great, as it was a chilly day, plus friendly dogs milling around!! Just my kind of place!! :)
Menu was great, although I'm awkward and asked for something not offered. Chef was very kind and obliged. Good portions and tasty food all round. The deserts were a hit too!! IMHO 'The White Swan' is a great place for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. It has a lovely relaxed unpretentious atmosphere, and I will certainly get the two trains across London to return!!
