If you have never been to Richmond you must. It's a beautiful area. Close to London. Decent shops in High Street. Lots of nice restaurants. This hotel is right by the park. Would recommend a walk. The hotel rooms are v small but clean. They have a pool if you fancy a swim. I would recommend this hotel over the one next door as the rooms are less dated / worn. Also I usually end up staying on a higher floor in this hotel (so lots of light).
Nb I have stayed in both hotels a number of times.

Booked a last minute, one night stay including two course dinner, breakfast and free parking as part of the deal. Our superior room was in the old part of the building and had two large sash windows that opened, and a very quiet air conditioning unit - much appreciated after several hot stays in English hotels! The furnishings were good quality and the bed was large and comfortable which ensured a good nights sleep.

We received a very warm welcome at the leisure centre which was housed in a separate building, which was very light and airy due to the glass roof. Had a great swim in the 20m pool followed by a soak in the Jacuzzi and a visit to the steam room. There was also a gym and sauna.

The Roebuck on Richmond Hill nearby, two minutes walk from the hotel and with spectacular views overlooking the Thames, provided an excellent venue for an early evening drink, with a good selection of beers. Back at the hotel we had to wait a little for a table as the hotel was very busy. Even with the high volume, the quality of the food was excellent and the triple cooked chips were very tasty, crunchy and exceedingly yummy!

Breakfast, served until 11am at weekends, was buffet service with good quality ingredients and accompanied with a good selection of home cooked breads. Service was polite and efficient and you did not feel rushed in any way.

We ended the stay with a pleasant walk along the Thames past Teddington Lock. By the time we walked back the riverside was full of the sights and sounds of tourists and locals having a great time enjoying the last day of the Easter break.

There were a range of very tempting pubs and restaurants on the riverside and in the vibrant Richmond shopping area.

A great place to visit and looking forward to another stay in this lovely area of London.

Dear Andy,

It is always very satisfying to read such a lovely review of the Hotel. The team work hard to ensure all aspects of our service sustain a consistent high standard. We are all delighted that these were highlighted so comprehensively in your review.

The local area is indeed full of natural beauty with a wide choice of things to do, places to see and restaurants to try. We do hope you return to stay with us when next visiting this area.

Warm regards

Diane

We booked to stay here for two nights over Easter last minute via Secret Escapes. On the face of it, the deal was tremendous value given the location and dinner, b&b.
The truth was however that the service was very far from 4*, particularly at Dinner where we
-waited over an hour for a starter, watching people sit down and order 20 minutes after us yet still be served and finish starters before ours served
- then had the wrong main dish brought out
- then the wrong desert!

Every table in the restaurant seemed to be dissatisfied with something and service was slow in the extreme.

We felt like we would be very annoyed if we had paid full price (the food is massively overpriced) but then, isn't the whole point of a deal to get the same 4* service as you would if you pay full price!! In fact at times we questioned whether we were being given different service because we had a deal, almost like we don't deserve the 4* treatment!

Room was ok with a nice view, comfortable bed but walls pretty thin and corridors very dated.

The plus point was Breakfast although even then on one morning 2 poached eggs took 20 minutes and then were served raw and had to be sent back.

Probably JUST about worth what we paid which was about 50% off the main price given the free parking, spa use and location but definitely NOT 4*, particularly the food.

Dear Matthew,

I am truly disappointed that you found our service lacking during you stay with us during the Easter Holiday.

We were very busy in the restaurant in the night in question, and we should have been able to provide you with a more seamless service. Following your comments we have reviewed the service with both the Chef and the Restaurant Manager to ensure our future guests do not experience the same slow service.

I appreciate your positive comments on the room and breakfast offer and can only assure you that we take all guest feedback very seriously, as it helps us to develop and progress.

Kind regards

The location is stunning. Just yards from Richmond Park in one direction and from a wonderful view of the Thames in the other. A beautiful looking building. Stayed in a superior double (260).Very small, had to keep getting out of each other's way. Tiny shelves in bathroom so put wash bag in the bath. Cheap plywood furniture, bedside tables 12" square. Comfy bed. Tiny balcony overlooking rear car park and air conditioning units. Service in restaurant slow and Maître D unhelpful especially re my gluten intolerance. He had a poor understanding of what did and didn't contain gluten. Said "you could have salmon - but I haven't got any". The restaurant manager had rung me earlier to say it would be no problem but he had left by the time we ate. A disappointing stay.

Dear Bridgepuss,

I am truly sorry that your stay was such a disappointment but thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. Your experience at Richmond Hill was clearly far removed from your expectations and I am truly sorry about that.

After an investigation with my Duty Management team it is regrettable that your disappointment does not appear to have been highlighted or addressed by the Duty Manager visiting your room. I wish to assure you that if the Duty Manager had been made aware they would have endeavoured to provide an alternative room type more to your liking.

I can only apologise for the lack of Gluetn free understanding expressed by my restaurant supervisor. We have a brigade of chefs who would have been delighted to cook you something tailored if this had been communicated properly. I have addressed this training need with the team member concerned to ensure we are more proactive in the future.

Thank you once again for posting your comments, it does help us focus our team and strive to improve our service delivery.

Kind regards

Diane

After a long, tiring, cold and wet day on the banks of the Thames we were looking forward to checking into our hotel.

Having booked online from a large selection in the Richmond area we were not sure what to expect but were extremely pleased with our choice.

The reception staff were super efficient and helpful. Extra towels arrived swiftly even late on a Sunday evening. Very impressive.

We had booked a standard double which was rather small for us and all our luggage but fortunately we were able to upgrade easily. The 'executive' level rooms are large and comfortable with decent clean bathrooms, plenty of plugs, comfortable bed with good pillows etc.
Our room faced the back of the hotel and it was extremely quiet.

The wifi worked well and there were plenty of car park spaces.

As we were exhausted we decided to eat in the hotel's restaurant 'Pembrokes'. This was a well
run establishment too. Charming staff, and good food. Great that it was open on a Sunday night.

A good choice. A very well run yet reasonably priced hotel with great staff. I am fussy but I would definitely stay here again. Thank you :)

Room Tip: Stayed in an Executive room on second floor, facing back of hotel. It was a good size, not noisy.

We went out for a birthday meal at the Richmond Hill Hotel's restaurant and it was shockingly disappointing. The food was well overpriced (especially for what you got) and none of the waiters spoke English to a level that you could communicate well with them.
We accidentally spilled a drink, which resulted in a soaked part of the table but they didn't bother changing the cloths.
I asked for vegan food and they were nice enough to sit down and tell me which options I have but the bread they gave me was covered in butter & cheese...if I was choosing this diet for allergy reasons it wouldn't of ended well. The supposedly vegan soup tasted of fish stock so again, doubtful they listened to my request.
The waiters rarely ever came around to ask if we wanted anything, let alone ask if anything was fine...
It wasn't terrible but I would definitely not go again nor recommend for anyone to go, you can probably have a nicer meal at Weatherspoons!

Where do we start with this hotel, we booked this hotel through an offer on secret escapes on the Thursday before Easter to stay on Easter Sunday.
Cons - Rude receptionist Razia on arrival, The corridor our room was located on was very dated, with gaps in the ceiling and one of the ceiling boards almost hanging off, once we arrived into the "superior room" we were shocked at the size of it, you could hardly move in there, the toilet and shower cubicle were in the room behind frosted glass, no privacy to go to the toilet.
The phone was completely dead, only to be told by the girl on reception there was maintenance going on in the hotel and some of the phones were out of order, when telling the girl on reception how dissatisfied we were with our room she offered to move us, but we heard no more about it and were forgotten about! Also we had been on a long journey and would have ordered room service but there was no menu in the room!!!
We had booked a table in the hotel for dinner for 8pm, only to be seated at 8.30pm, no apology from the matriee d who was a complete idiot who had no idea or organisation in running the restaurant itself, once seated they sat us down with no food or drinks menus to look over, it took another couple on the table next to us to say " I think that couple may need menus aswell, as they had also been waiting half an hour too!!!
Once we were ready to order the food certain items weren’t available on the menu only to see it coming out of the kitchen an hour later to people that had walked in an hour after us!!!
Our deal with the hotel was meant to include two courses, we only had one as the service was slow, and we were waiting nearly 20minutes for the waiter to come back and take our dessert order , we gave up and left the restaurant.
Also a member of staff that was behind the bar was very scruffy, messy hair, his shirt was hanging out, top button undone on his shirt, just a mess!!!
Pros- Comfy bed and polite breakfast staff, very efficient and welcoming, maybe they should of been on hand in the dining room the night before, food was fab both for dinner and breakfast.
We spoke to the reception manager on the day of departure, as we wanted to email the hotel manager, only to be told the room we were staying was sample room they had been trying before the refurbishments were taking place in the hotel, the room would of been a comfortable size for a single traveller, the room looked like an ikea flat pack bedroom, he also went on to say that the phone has never been installed as it’s a sample room, good job there was no emergency!!!
There is no way on earth this room is worth £249, it’s almost like we got put in that room because we purchased a secret escapes deal.
As compensation he wanted to give us a cream tea as a good will gesture, but unfortunately we had other plans.
We’re coming back to Richmond in July for my fiances birthday, I’m glad were not staying at the Richmond Hill hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid room 57!!!
