Richmond Hill is always a wonderful location with a beautiful view. This hotel matches this in many ways. It is a big hotel but because of the structure has a fairly cosy feel. Its part of a chain and as such has that large hotel feel. It is definitely not boutique. We stayed in a standard room that has the classic quality chain style (I am surprised that some have said they were basic, they are much more than say a Travelodge or Holiday Inn Express which is what I call basic). It has a simple but good spa and pool as well as nice food in the restaurant. Gardens are fine and the parking is secure. The bar is nothing but there are plenty of pubs just down the road in Richmond so do not let that put you off.
I am a service nut and here they were friendly warm and welcoming. They gave us enough information to get our basics and did not overload us with too much detail. If you are a tired traveller that is the last thing you want. Breakfast was good and served in a very friendly manner.
    Altogether a very pleasurable experience.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors have the best views and are quieter

Should not be classed as 4 star. Staff were pleasant and friendly, but inefficient. We had to ask ourselves about pool use and breakfast. Room was basic. Spacious but basic. Instead of a double bed we had 2 singles pushed together, not what you'd expect in a 4 star. Also the shower, although powerful was very low. I'm 6ft and had to bend down to get under. Decor was old fashioned but room was very clean. Didn't understand the picnic blanket at the bottom of the bed though. Breakfast was basic buffet style and served between 6 30 and 9 30. We got there at 8 45 and the bacon was tough as though it had been there for a while and a number of things had run out, obviously they hadn't been checked. In fairness to the staff when we pointed this out the did cook some up for us fresh. Pool was very good but just like a gym one, you didn't get the feel of a spa. Sauna was working but had no access to water as nearest faucets were broken, as we're nearest showers. Hydrotherapy pool was good though.

I am truly sorry that your stay was disappointing but thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on this site. Your experience at Richmond Gate was clearly far removed from your expectations.
Since my arrival at the hotel we have been making some improvements one of which is breakfast. We have changed the service style as a direct result of feedback similar to your own. I am sorry the changes were not complete by the time of your stay.
With regard the level of service received I appreciate this must have been very frustrating and I can’t help feeling disappointed that it was inefficient yet friendly.
I will certainly pass on your comments to the General Manager of Cedars relating to the Spa facilities
Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

What can I say would not bother again!! Paid £150 for the room and got offered a basement room with no daylight at all. The only positive weather was great outside but I could not see any of it when in the room!

Breakfast not much better cold no baked beans and hardly any cereal.

Will not be going back to this hotel probably one of the worst stayed in near to London.

I am truly sorry that your stay was such a disappointment but thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on this site . Your experience at Richmond Gate was clearly far removed from your expectations and I am truly sorry about that.
The age of the building with its oldest parts dating back to 1715 does mean we have a very unique building and therefore different styles of bedrooms and locations within the building I am sorry your bedroom was not to your taste.
After an investigation with my Duty Management team it is regrettable that your disappointment does not appear to have been highlighted or addressed by the Duty Manager visiting your room. I wish to assure you that if the Duty Manager had been made aware they would have endeavoured to provide an alternative room type.
It is only through comments such as those you have made that we are able to improve our standard and service.
Thank you once again for your feedback
