Stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend in May. The staff and entertainers were very friendly and the rooms and facilities were clean for the most part. If you like early nights or peace and quiet, I would ask to have your room face away from the pool area since there is very loud entertainment for kids (adults later) from 9.30pm. The pool area is very pretty, however, and we were lucky enough to have a room with a view of both the pool and the sea behind it.

The food was nothing special, but there was a lot of variety and everyone was catered to. There are also local restaurants ten minutes down the road, varying from Chinese to Seafood to traditional Spanish cuisine.

There isn't a lot to do in the neighbourhood and public transport is scarce, so if you intend to do more than lie in the sun it's a good idea to rent a car.

We stayed at the càbogata garden hotel from 8th may till 22 may
First let. me say if you want bars lots of English forget this hotel
if you want a true experience of Spain then this is the place for you when we went it was very quiet
With a nice mix of dutch and French and a few English and Spanish the locals use this hotel at weekends yes they are noisy but very nice the ones we spoke to were very helpful
The hotel is on a natural park area nice walks we found a nice park near by with lots of interesting
Birds including parrots
Hotel facilities hair dryer is good , beach towels at 10 euro deposit change as many times as you want, good selection of branded drinks , food was very good with lots of choice
Many thanks to Gordon our waiter in the restaurant who was most helpful in every way.
There was a new Thomas cook kids club starting up as we left which will be interesting to see how it goes The hotel has its own animation team who do junior disco
Over all a most enjoyable holiday I am sure we will return

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool area are best

We stayed for a week from 4 may till 11 may and it was a wonderful holiday. Staff were very good, rooms cleaned everyday without fail, food was execelent and the evening entertainment was funny. one night we had a very dodgy Spainish Elvis who sounded like Speedy Gonzalis.
Overall the holiday was excelent and will most defo be going again
Thankyou Spain for a wonderful time.

Generaly good hotel - but be careful about the term of your stay. We´ve visited this hotel in the first half of June 2013 - good weather generaly, warm, adequately windy but the beaches totally unprepaired!!!
No sunbeds, no sunumbrellas, no beach bars - absolutelly nothing like during winter! Why?? - because the summer time season starts here from the 21th of June - BUT mostly you have no chance to find this information unfortunately :-(
Bars - in general OK, but during the weekends is the main bar overcrowded and the others are closed or paid which is not mentioned in the information about this hotel.
Restaurant - even if there is only one restaurant, very good quality - no problem
Games - the biggest disappoitment. The first time I experienced that I can not play a game with my sons together (11 and 13y) said due to their age orl ocal rules - I think more envy of local children roles - incomprehensible!!!
Thus hostile behavior especially from the entertainment team leader I have never seen anywhere else !!!
This is the main reason why I don´t think to come here again or recommend this hotel to my friends - sorry. It´s really don´t worth it.
See U soon in better times for thod hotel

Dear Guest

First of all we thank you for offer us your detailed opinion of our hotel. It is important for us to know how our guests feel about their experience in our Hotel.

Regarding the fact you comment about beach bars ,The beach in front of us is a protected part of the Natural Park and nothing can be built on that beach.Sunbeds are placed on demand that is why there is not any until the beginning of the season.Anyhow we do disposse of plenty of sunbeds free of charge at the pool for our guests if they prefer relax by the swimming pool.Main Bar is placed in the middle of the swimming pool .

About the bar been overcrowded , like any other hotel we have rush hours where the volume of work slows down the service.,In those cases extra staff is on duty and every thing is done to stop the guests from waiting too long .

We thank you for let us know you enjoy the buffet service. We do our best to keep a good level of quality we aer glad you enjoyed it .

You express your dissapointment about the games .Normally ,due to the amount of children and their different ages , groups are made just to arrange games suitable to every age .For instance : a child of 8 years old cannot run as fast as a 11 years old and on the same way a 11 years old will probably get bored with games for smaller children .

Most of the time smaller children want to change groups as the want to try games for grown up but it is not allowed as this games can be difficult for them. And on the other hand entertainment team has to be estricted with that as they cannot make an exception for only one person. In your case she offer you to move your 13 years old to move to the group of the 11years old .Sorry if you did not accept that solution..

Once again ,thankyou for your comments and sorry if your staying with us was not all that you expected .

Just returned from the hotel after spending 4 days at the hotel during Easter. Booked through on the beach website, so wasn't sure what to expect but when we got there it was a pleasant surprise. We were a bit early for the check in but were greeted with big smile by the reception staff. Rooms were nice, clean and very spacious. Cleaning staff was very nice although language was a bit of problem but they helped at most.

We had all inclusive board and it was well with the money. We are a vegetarian family but still had enough choices although had loads of choices in meat, fish and a wast variety of sea food. Drinks were available all the time.

Desserts were out of this world and more than enough choices.

Kids entertainment was quiet good but most of it in Spanish, still kids had a nice time.

Only one thing which we would love to have was tea making facility in the room other than that it is well worth every penny.

Would specially like to mention name of 2 staff members, one is Pablo: he looks after the pool side entertainment, really passionate about his work. Would motivate u so much that u would definitely give the sports a try. Other one to mention is head chef, would do anything to make ur meal time a happy one. He specially baked veg pizza for us as it was most of non veg that day.

Room Tip: Our was a double room, 1111 no. Sea view overlooking the pool. Lovely view, near to lifts and pool e...

The hotel was great, couldn't really fault it. Very clean and you could find everything pretty easy. Only two floors high which is great, with lifts available.

Transfer from airport to hotel and vice versa was very easy and quick. Only took approximently 10-15 minutes. Checking into the hotel went very smoothly and our room was available straight away. Check in was smooth as well

Our room (3219) was massive, it had two twin beds plus a sofa bed. Bathroom was a good size and always very clean. The maid service we couldn't fault it at all, made sure it was always clean and tidy. Plus without fail every day we had a new bottle of water, which was kept cold by the fridge. The tv was in spanish but we didn't really expect much else as the hotel and the area are still very Spanishy. The balcony was a very good size, with this we overlooked the pool and could see the sea. I will just mention in some reviews people said having a room near the pool was noisey well we found that if the door was shut and curtains pulled at night it was absolutly fine. Plus the entertainment always stopped at midnight

Well what can we say about the food. Always a wide varity of food from pasta, pizza, loads of meats, fish, chips/potato crisps and many more options. Breakfast was very the same but it was always very taste, something for everyone - Cereal/Bread/Crossiants/Hot Food/Hams/Cheese etc. And desserts were just out of this world.

The main bar was never a problem getting a drink. Yes it wasn't international brands but that wasn't much of a problem. A drink that we liked was chocolate milk with squirty cream (yes it wasn't alcohol but we enjoyed it). Between 12.30-1.30pm and 5-6pm they did a few little snacks at the main bar. There was always something to grab if you fancied eating between meal times.

There was always sunbeds and plenty whether you went out at 9am or 3pm.

El Toyo itself was very quite. Very spanish which was lovely as it was untidy and it wasn't full of loud mouth brits. There was a few tapas bars and shops about 15 minute walk from the hotel. There was also a shop within the hotel which did some great little souvenirs.

The staff were great. Very polite always there to help if you needed anything. The ground of the hotel were lovely. Very well looked after.

As you've probably read on previous reviews was that at weekends the hotel got very busy with Spanish families. Yes this would be a problem if you have come as a family or a large party, just for the pure fact they didn't cater to well with larger tables. Apart from that it was ok

So to some up, if you are wanting just a quiet, relaxing break away from the UK we would definitly recommend this property. Great for all - familes/couples/solo etc and even all ages

Room Tip: High floor facing pool as great views

I have only given the hotel three out of five but this is largely because the area has nothing to offer and I don't think a would class the hotel as 'very good'. I would label it as 'good' rather than 'average though'.

There is absolutely nothing to do in the area and me and my partner were disappointed in the beach. It didn't have any sun beds and it was rather untidy in places so we spent little time down there with our little girl.

The food in the hotel was good and the rooms were clean and tidy (beds on the hard side though). Pool area could have been much cleaner though - too many cig ends for my liking.

The staff were helpful and the kids club entertainers were great. They tried hard to include my daughter even though the rest of the children were Spanish and despite her young age.

Don't expect too much from the gym. One running machine and that was out of order.

If you just want sun, a pool, peace and quiet and decent food I would highly recommend this place for you. Be prepared just to lie on a sun lounger for a week though as there is little else to do unless you hire a car.

Hope this comes across as a balanced review as I wouldn't want to put anybody off from staying here. Just make sure it is the place for you in terms of location.

We thank you for your review. It is very important for us to know the point of view of our guests
as it helps us to improve our service .

Sorry you find out the area too quiet .This is a residential area very good for relaxing away from the noise of the city .Even though is quiet ,the big capitol Almería is only 12 km away .In Almeria you can find museums , historical buildings , cultural programme and comercial centers .To get there we have a bus stop 20 mts away .

Thank you for let us know you enjoyed the food and thank you too for considering our staff
