“Great pub food”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

We went there on a recommendation . The service was good ,we couldn't get a table in the main restaurant as they were full so we were seated in the bar area ,this shows how popular this pub is ,as it was a Wednesday evening , food excellent ,staff very efficient ,
Will defiantly be going back on a more regular basis ,

“mixed feelings”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

The visit we had was a mixed bag.

My prawn fishcakes, were pretty average. nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either, although could hardly taste any prawns in them. The chips they were served with were low quality and undercooked- some were still raw.

My partner had Lamb and Apple pie with mash and veg. This was gorgeous!! well cooked, beautiful meat, amazing combination. Large portion ( i ate half and left half of mine!)

The staff were friendly and polite, but when i complained about my chips, they apologised but nothing more was done, perhaps a discount, or offer of complimentary drink or pudding would have been a better reaction.

The pub is attractive with a lovely outdoor seating area.

“Magnificent family pub!”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Plenty of space for all in this wonderfully laid out pub/restaurant.
A good range of real ales but the crowning glory is the food; a comprehensive menu of great meals to suit all tastes and beautifully cooked - but Beware! Make sure you turn up with an empty stomach because the servings are enormous; it broke my heart to leave some on the plate as it tasted so good but there was just too much of it!
The only criticism of the place was the absence of bar staff; there appeared to be only one guy running the show and although he multi-tasked very well, he could have done with an extra couple of pairs of hands.

“Just ok”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

We visited the Green Man last night and had an overall good evening, the food was good pub food and the price was more on the expensive side for house wine etc, but the thing we were most unimpressed about was the fact we ask for our table to be cleaned and had it confirmed that it would be done but after spending 3 hours at our table it wasn't done, and it was Filthy! To make it worse after asking I went into the pub to find 3 waitresses sitting around. The final bad point we had came when our desserts were brought out and all of our dirty plates were still on the table, these 2 things are so easy to get right and really disappointing when they are done wrong, it's just very standard practice no matter how busy you are, a real shame !
