The state of buffets in the central Okanagan is rather sad with only the Penticton Buffet rising up over the general flotsam and jetsam of plastic food doled out in troughs to retirees. Although Hong Kong does not match up to Penticton, it's a remarkably decent buffet in its own right and well worth seeking out (note, it's off the highway in a weird nondescript strip mall that paradoxically faces AWAY from the highway traffic). The service is super top notch, super friendly and very hard working so BIG KUDOS to the waitresses! The buffet like many others is a hit and miss affair, but there are some absolutely stellar dishes:
Dry garlic pork ribs
Honey garlic pork ribs
Pork fried rice
These four are among the best I've ever eaten and I've lived most of my life traveling the world. If the Pork fried rice was a bit more fried and less pilaf-y, it could win the title of the best anywhere.
Whatever you do, make sure you don't go into Japengo Sushi right next door... unless you're wearing a haz mat suit!
