Let's face it. West Kelowna is a culinary wasteland of strip malls clumsily overlaid onto some of the most scenic hills in the Okanagan. The best thing that could possibly be done is to bulldoze the whole place and make it a national park. But since the local administration is dead set into encasing it all into concrete devastation, that's not going to happen anytime soon, so we might as well enjoy the artificial "civilized" constructs of this outrageously and almost repulsively ugly town.
Back to the food. Momo Sushi has the rep as the best sushi in West Kelurid (sic). The place is tiny with just a few tables, fairly dimly lit, and fairly Japanese-y in decor. The staff is very friendly and attentive, but the ritual of having to cough up your name and phone number and wait for them to key it into their touchscreen VERY SLOWLY every time you want to take out a Dynamite Roll gets old quick. Another quirk is that the Ebi Ebi Roll IS the Dynamite Roll but you have to be a purist to argue the difference.
Don't argue with the overall sushi, however. It's fresh, tasty, portions are ample, it's ready in a flash, and although it isn't exactly cheap, you'd likely pay twice as much in Vancouver or LA so just shut up and eat it and thank your lucky stars.
It's arguable whether it's the best sushi in all of Kelowna proper as there are a few places on the other side of the bridge that could likely beat it in a shootout. But keep in mind that Momo is in the same mall as the closed Extra Foods, next to the Zellers soon to be a Target, and where the dining alternatives are limited to gourmand delicacies proffered by Timmy's, Wendy's, and Quiznos, and you'll be thanking your ancestors.
