“What a surprise!”
Reviewed 28 April 2014 via mobile

We did not know about this restaurant until we went to Sunshine Beach this trip. We went to the Farmer's Market at Noosa and had their Duck Buns. Delicious! Therefore, we just had to dine there. Dinner was excellent and so we returned for Yum Cha.

Not the normal Yum Cha choices but totally delicious! Love the idea of the choice of a set Yum Cha Menu. The Mocktail Jug on offer was also delicious.

Look forward to dining there again on our next trip to Noosa.

“slow but friendly service”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

on arrival we were presented with the wine menu. We ordered our drinks but we had to ask for a menu. We ordered and by the time our entrees arrived we had been there an hour without anyone taking any interest in us and certainly no offer of anything to nibble on, The food was competent but not memorable. We ordered one $39.00 resident menu which was good value and had ordered the scallops which was good, followed by the red chicken which was a tad too sweet for me then the steamed chocolate bun which again was okay. The other dishes we had was the beef cheeks cooked in black bean sauce which was very tender but again too sweet, and the Moreton Bay Bugs cooked in the XO sauce which was good.

“Fantastic Asian Food”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

Took the whole family again, including young grandchildren, and were more impressed than last visit. The restaurant offers choice of a la carte or set menus at not too expensive prices which represent value for money. Hate to be repetitious but the noodles with spanner crab is delicious as are the beef cheeks and Morton bay bugs which were cooked to perfection and slid out of their shells with minimal effort. Started with the scallop dumplings, unlucky pork dumplings, salmon roll and oysters - all of which were were prepared so well and the flavours were interesting and yum. The cornflake cake with icecream and strawberries was a hit with everyone. Good wine list. Very friendly and professional waitstaff. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

“Trading on reputation”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

Chosen as "the restaurant" to experience during a recent trip to Noosa, we (2 couples) looked forward to some cutting edge Asian dishes. Disappointingly, the sharpening steel seems to have been absent for some time.
We chose the $75 pp "predominantly seafood" banquet option. Entrees were served quickly, with all rated very highly. Personal taste, but I thought the panfried scallop dumpling was the pick, whilst others thought the oysters superb.
Off to a good start, now looking forward to mains. And looking forward. And looking forward.
50 minutes after entree plates were removed, the mains finally appeared. Now the floor staff know the number of dishes that are for the table - perhaps some table preparation (i.e. making space) just prior could reasonably be expected. But no, this was the typical local Chinese restaurant style - bring it all out, push plates around, and leave a mess.
Mains were good, but only one "very good" - the hand-made noodle with Spanner crab & pickled chili sauce.
(note to restaurant - the fish is "schnapper", not "snapper")
An assortment of "sides" were presented.
During main course, table staff emptied the wine bottle during glasses top-up, then stood and waved the empty bottle from side-to-side asking if we wanted another. Poor form in a restaurant that rates itself so highly.
Chatting with staff as plates were cleared away, we discovered that the fermented and frosted radish "side" was there as a cleansing sorbet between the different mains. Such a pity that we weren't informed of its purpose when it was brought out.
Desserts were an absolute "don't bother". The steamed chocolate bun in particular was particularly unpleasant. A very dense, doughy, flavour-less bun which oozed a small puddle of chocolate sauce when cut.
The "milk" (is there any other kind?) icecream with a crunchy cornflake lid. Now, we are in Sunshine Beach on a warm night, with the restauarant windows openned. Common sense, and pride< would suggest that the serving platter be chilled prior to plating up. Unfortunately this wasn't the case, and the ice-cream was melting as it was placed in front of us.
Overall, some good, a couple of greats, and plenty of average.

“A nice change”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

This reasonably priced Modern Asian eatery deserves the drive from Noosa and surrounds. The dining room is elevated and open to the sea breeze which is something to savour on a warm evening. Service is welcoming and an improvement over anything on nearby Hastings Street, and the food is interesting, if lacking a little in seasoning and punch. Local ingredients (tomatoes, spanner crab) are proudly used on the menu which is great to see.
