“Queens Bay Hotel not 3* should be 4*”
Reviewed 16 May 2011

Stayed at the Queens Bay Hotel in May for 7 nights and not knowing what to expect was very pleasently suprised, the hotel was very clean and the reception staff were friendly and helpful on our arrival.
The room was perhaps a bit on the small size but very clean, our outlook was to the rear of the hotel but as we were visiting family who live in Tala then that did not matter as we only used the room as somewhere to sleep and have breakfast, talking of breakfast you could not go away on a morning hungry as there was plenty of choise and it was always hot and fresh.
Yes it is slightly off the beaten track but it is only 1 euro bus ride into the centre of Paphos.
I would and infact already have recomended the hotel to friends and family, and next time we visit Cyprus would look at booking there again.

Room Tip: Front of hotel with sea and pool view

Thank you for that wonderful review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your holiday.

In fact, you touched on the reason that we are a 3* hotel - the room size. We do our best to provide 4* facilities but we can never be upgraded. Look on the bright side - we charge 3* prices.

Me and my family went to Queen's Bay first time in June 2010. The staff was very nice and very polite and would help you with anything you needed.

The food was lovely and only one day out of the whole 2 weeks we was there. My Stepdad went down for breakfast and has some BACON, which is want he thought was bacon but it turn out to be Pancake in Maple sauce, He was not to happy about that, But that was the only time he didn't like it.
We have been back ito Queen's Bay Hotel 3 times last year and now we have booked up to go back in July 2011 for my mum's birthday.

See u soon Queen's Bay, xxx

My wife and I spent Xmas at Queens Bay this year and we were very happy with the overall stay. We only stayed 3 nights as we were also staying with my parents who live in Cyprus in Peyia village nearby.

My parents as “local Brits” are regulars at Queens Bay they go for evening meals on occasions and know the staff very well and we have also been before when visiting my parents. In general it’s a very nice hotel in what we consider a perfect location. As its set back from the main road and very quiet, it’s not a new modern hotel but its maintained well and clean. We found the rooms to be basic, as commented in other reviews but to agree very clean and comfortable.

Whilst my parents have been before for the Xmas Eve and Xmas Day events we hadn’t and were not sure of how things were going to be. We were very happy and we couldn’t believe how popular it was.

The Xmas Gala Dinner – everything took place in the restaurant including the entertainment. As it was buffet style and self service there was a little queuing but we didn’t wait too long and staff were efficient to keep things moving. The entertainment was good, live music/disco style but well done, a good mix of dance music.
Xmas Day again we met in the bar area with friends of my parents who were joining us and again a good atmosphere. Xmas day lunch was a cavery including turkey and buffet style again but a nice selection of hot and cold dishes. Not to mention Xmas Pud to finish and coffee, good value for 25 Euro per person.

Boxing day there was no special event but we welcomed this as after over eating the past couple of days we enjoyed a night off. Over all we found the Xmas period to be of good quality and value for money obviously very popular with locals, which must be a good sign.

We received a first class service from all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The meals were excellent with plenty of choice and were to a very high standard. The rooms were well laid out and very clean. We paid extra for a sea view and it was well worth it. The views were absolutely stunning. The pools, indoor and outdoor, were well maintained and the gardens and pool area were great. There were lots of sunbeds and umbrellas. We were fully inclusive and would recommend this option because the hotel was so relaxing we enjoyed just chilling out. There was a bus stop a short distance from the hotel with buses every 15/20 minutes to Paphos and Coral Bay.

We experienced the hotel when it was busy (a flight to Doncaster had been cancelled and the hotel unexpectedly catered for a large number of guests) and when it was quiet. The standards were the same whether it was busy or quiet. Good food, helpful staff and in the evening friendly bar staff and good entertainment.

We met a few people who return to the hotel year after year. One couple had been going since it opened 20 years ago and had never tired of it. We fully appreciate why people go there year after year.

Booked only a couple of days before travel, never having been to Cyprus before. Was abit disappointed as after reading the previous reviews expected more of a family atmosphere, the overall feeling from the staff was that they had had enough for one year. This was a shame as the hotel itself is situated in an ideal location, lacking guest (hardly anyone staying there) i feel that the management should have made more effort with the ones that were there.Hopefully once it has reopened next year (shutting later in year for refurbishment) it will lift itself up and make full use of the potential that it has.Did enjoy the holiday.
