I took my corgi to Delamere forest for the first time today. Absolutely gorgeous place to have a stroll, paths are very well maintained and well signposted, and it is a very dog friendly area. You can hike up the hill if you want some nice views over cheshire and the forest, or keep to the flatter routes amongst the trees and the lake. I didnt plan any particular route when I went, just picked a direction and off we went! Absolutely gorgeous and well worth an explore!

Delamere Forest is a wonderful place for a walk, a cycle (or even a high ropes experience at Go Ape) but it's also home to a series of summer gigs and concerts by well known names in pop and rock. Past acts include Paloma Faith, Blondie, Simple Minds and most recently Paul Weller in the rain. Check the Forestry Commission website for details and to join the mailing list. There's a train station right by the forest or plenty of parking (if you're prepared for queues on the way out at the end).

Decided to take my 3 year old on the gruffalo trail. Expected lots of activities to do with the story but was really disappointed! Turned out to be a few signposts telling you which way to go, with a few questions for the children to answer, cardboard cutouts nailed to the wall and by the time we got near the end where there was a carved wooden gruffalo my son had lost interest by then. Could of been so much fun with a little more effort. With the petrol cost and the £6 parking fee- rather a wasted journey. Best thing was the sandwich I bought for the cafe. Shame really

Came here with our own food and the intention to walk a few miles. The Forest Centre has a lovely, open picnic area with tables, toilets and everything you need. We followed a walking trail and went right into the forest and back around again. Really good day out with the right weather!
