Review of Abbeywood Gardens

Abbeywood Gardens

Attraction details
Owner description: The Rowlinson family have lived at Abbeywood since 1987, during which time they have made many improvements and additions to the gardens. The year starts in February with many varieties of Galanthus in Jane's Garden, followed by other Spring favourites, Erythroniums and Trilliums, to name but a few of her rare plants. The Main Garden is divided into separate areas. The formal layout gives way to naturalistic planting within. Early May starts with Tulips followed by Alliums and Camassia. Seasonal interest continues until around mid September - weather depending. The Christopher Lloyd inspired Exotic Garden, designed around the remnants of the old vegetable garden, is filled with Dahlias, Cannas, Banana and other tender perennials. These continue until the first frosts. The Young Arboretum is planted with rare evergreen and deciduous trees for year round interest. A 2km, wildlife walk incorporates the existing and new woodland on the 45 acre grounds.

“Sadly disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2014

We went as a party of four for afternoon tea last sunday. This was our first visit and sadly we wont be calling again. Afternoon tea is £13.95 per person and you are offered either a cup of tea or a mug of coffee. If you would like an extra coffee you are charged extra. We have been to many places for afternoon tea and have never been charged for an extra hot drink. Oh and dont expect clotted cream with your scones.

The annoyed owner say:

I am sorry to hear about this customers experience and appreciate the feedback. We want everyone who comes to Abbeywood to have a good experience. I will certainly investigate this complaint to see why the customer's drink was not topped up and why cream was not offered for the scone it certainly should have been.

“Lovely Abbeywood”

A hidden gem in the Cheshire countryside near Delamere Forest. We go quite often for coffee and light lunch or their tasty cakes!

“Garden Party at Abbeywood”

We were lucky to visit this lovely location on a warm spring day. The surroundings are delightful and hidden away. The hospitality areas have been well thought out and offer lovely refreshments in professional surroundings.

“Stay away”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

Took my granddaughters. One was walking holding my hand, the other, age 5, was ahead of us on the path - NOT running wild, not interfering with anyone else, not shouting, just skipping happily along about 5 yards in front of us. We were told off for not being in control of her by a very arrogant man. There service in the cafe was non- existent we waited 20 mins and still not served, though others ( without children were). When asked to be served we were snapped at and told to wait or leave. We left. These people. Should be ashamed of their attitude.

As the owner/ manager of Abbeywood, i find it difficult to accept that the cause of the complaint occurred at Abbeywood, i would certainly like to meet the person, and then to identify whoever spoke to them both inside the cafe and on the pathway. it certainly dose not sound like the treatment i expect customers to experience at Abbeywood.
