We went to the Badgers Mount last night after reading so many good reviews on here. It's also local, so we were keen to see if it lived up to expectations. It did and it didn't.

We found the menu a little strange, a mix of restaurant dishes and pub grub. The wine list was extremely limited, with no sparkling wine at all.

The chicken liver pate starter was reasonable, if a bit bitter. Cream of vegetable soup was better. With mains, two of our party enjoyed their meals, one didn't. The steak and ale pie was excellent, lovely flaky pastry and plenty of chunky steak. The chicken in bacon was also good, succulent chicken, not overcooked. The sauce was a little cold though.

However, the steak was very poor. My companion had requested a medium-rate sirloin. What arrived was a sad, grey piece of meat, no more than half an inch thick. There was some pink around the edges, and we initially thought it was OK. However, on cutting into it, the middle was grey and very overcooked. We complained, and the £15 charge was taken off the bill. However, we then overheard the kitchen staff discussing our complaint and clearly disagreeing with us.

So, if you're going to go, avoid the steak like the plague.

Visited this hotel/restaurant recently for just a meal. Very warm welcome by owners and waitress. Food choices a little limited. No main course for vegitarians on menu but understand that they will meet individual requests if asked. Excellent service. The owners are obviously working hard to keep business going whilst continuing to make the upgrades they feel necessary. Currently, for that reason I suppose, the place does lack atmosphere. However the owners more than make up for this in the warmth of their welcome.

We held our evening wedding reception at Badgers Mount at the beginning of August. Ivor, Jill and Sharon were excellent hosts and met all of our requests. The hotel was perfect for a party. The conservatory and dining room have been nicely decorated and made a great area for the band and dance floor. The bar area leads out on to a terrace and nice gardens. The chef prepared an excellent buffet and barbeque. All of our guests commented on the welcoming atmosphere and hospitality of the owners.

We also stayed the night. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated.

Glad to recommend this nice hotel as a venue and to stay.

We recently stayed at the Hotel, whilst attending a wedding in Leicester city centre. We found the staff welcoming, pleasant & conscientious (family run establishment). Clean and comfortable.
    Good motorway link.
    Happy to recommend it...

    Thank you Ivor & Jill

We were at the Badgers Mount a while ago now. It was for a wedding. First impression was what a lovely quaint cottage and well presented place this was. Welcomed by friendly staff and shown to our rooms; it was a warm welcome indeed.
It would be easy to get lost in this place as there are warren corridors leading off everywhere. What you would expect from a country cottage retreat. You would also expect the rooms to be small. Not so. Ours was a spacious family room with a beautiful en-suite and dressing area. The decor is 'cottagy' but does not detract from the cosy feel of the whole place.
Downstairs there is a lovely restaurant and a petit bar. For such a small place it really has a lot packed in! There is plenty of parking and the gardens at the back boast swanky annexes which overlook the pool.
All in all it is a wonderful place. We are looking at coming back again real soon!
