“Little gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Was looking for a place to have a simple lunch on a Sunday while visiting the area and decided to give this a try. We nearly left when we found out that there are no sandwiches and no specials on a Sunday and we didn't fancy the full Sunday roast.
However, the cafe was lovely, the sofas soft and the children in need of hot chocolate so we stayed and ordered 2 veg soups and a portion of chips to share for the adults and 1 portion of fish & chips for the children to share.
The big bowls of soups were really good, served with lovely sour dough bread and the perfect size for lunch. The children's fish & chips was excellent, served with what seemed like homemade tartare sauce and minted peas, and more than big enough for the two of them (5 & 9) so mum and dad could taste as well.
I think we paid about £20 for an excellent lunch and soft drinks for 4 people.
Nice touches are the loo flushing with rainwater, the interesting art on the walls, the sofa corner and the homemade ethos. Would definitely go back.

“Amazing hot beef sandwiches”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

Accidental discovery! Amazing hot beef sandwiches and home made chips. Priced just right in our opinion for a café. Ate here twice and had the salmon sandwich which was delicious but a tad more expensive. I agree cakes are on the small side but the gingerlicious cake is immense. Great coffee - and lots of little touches. All in all highly recommended - a must even for a hot drink, bowl of chips and slice of cake!

“Much more than just a coffe shed!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Enjoyed the food a lot. They claim to locally source as much as possible which is definitely a good thing. But even better is the quality! Our Sunday lunch was worthy of a much more high class establishment. The beef tasted amazing and fell apart in the mouth. The kids fish and chips was delicious (and huge - lots eaten by the adults!). The cheese board was varied, interesting and generous. In fact, we went back a couple of days later and ate there again. I had one of the deli platters while the other half revisited the fish and chips. The offspring had a cheese and bacon burger, that, again, ended up being eaten by the grown-ups! Good beer selection. Highly recommended.

“Time for a snack”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

I called here on a first visit just for a coffee and scone. Both were excellent (and I'm very particular about my scones). Lovely location to enjoy a break on the way to the busier Kielder. I'd certainly call again.
