I stayed at this hotel in freezing zero degree climate end October and their fireplace was oh-so-welcome! Victorian room decor, stylish curtains, a warm blanket and superb wine left me happy but the real contentment was when I walked along the quiet river soaking in the bleats of the lambs next door and the heavy dew in the abandoned cricket field just behind the property.
Not to mention, they do serve a superb Full English Breakfast - the blood pudding and the bacon get one dreamy eyed!
I'd stay again, whenever I get the opportunity.

spent the weekend at riverdale hall hotel, lovely setting close to river and village, welcomed by friendly receptionist, checked in quickly, we ate in the restaurant on both nights, the food was excellent, big portions and top quality ingredients at reasonable cost. good base for visiting Hadrians Wall and Kielder Reservoir. Would definitely recommend. Hope to return again in the future.

This is a quaint hotel where the old blends in with the new. We sat on the terrace in the evening overlooking the cricket pitch, the North Tyne and the hills and it was just magical. The room itself was nice but perhaps the bathroom could do with a bit of updating. The evening meal was excellent with lots of choice and at a reasonable price. The restaurant is split into the original part and the conservatory so you have a good choice of table. The breakfast was really good, my only complaint would be that we sat amongst tables that had not been cleared from previous diners. All in all we had a really good stay and we would certainly visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river.

Just returned from our 2nd stay at Riverdale Hall which is set in a lovely location near Bellingham. Thanks to Simon for the lovely flowers and chilled wine left in garden room 29 as requested. If you are looking for a peaceful break sitting on a terrace overlooking a river and cricket pitch whilst enjoying a cool drink then try here. The staff are so helpful and pleasant whilst the food is delicious. Bar prices are very reasonable for both food and drink. Take a swim in the heated indoor pool or go for a stroll along the riverbank or into the village. We stayed on a B and B rate and both nights ate in the hotel. Thinking of going back with our grandsons to one of the self catering apartments which we were shown round, very nice.

We've stayed 3 times in the last 18 months and enjoyed each time. The staff are particularly helpful no matter how busy they are. All 3 rooms we've had have been well equipped with really comfortable beds. The restaurant meals are reasonable value and the wines are not overpriced. All-in-all, the hotel is better than its 2 star rating.

Room Tip: All rooms overlooking the cricket field afford good views. If the weather is inclement, you may pre...

Riverdale Hall is a real treat. Whilst the building is in need of a little tlc, the things that matter are excellent, i.e. the beds, chairs, ambience, situation and most of all the food. Service is very good indeed. Highly recommended.

We stayed as part of a two night package deal including b+b. The hotel is situated in the village of Bellingham with good local amenities available. Hotel also has a pool and sauna, as well as trout fishing and a cricket pitch within the garden.
We ate the first night of our stay and the food and wine were both superb and excellent value for money, couldn't fault the food or service. Bar had an excellent range of drinks at very good prices for a hotel.
Breakfast was hearty with plenty of cooked choice and continental options.
Close to Kielder Water and Forest which is well worth a visit for beautiful walks and wildlife. We saw a red squirrel, herons, ducks, fox, lots of small birds, a lizard and froglet.
We also visited Kielder Observatory which unfortunately we didn't get to observe the stars as the mist and clouds had rolled in, was disappointimg as the pictures they showed of Saturn and galaxies was mind blowing!
Hotel is also only an hour and a quarter away from Beamish Open Air Museum.
The only slight negative was the shower dial was broken, so the shower was very very hot. But they did offer us the use of an empty room next door, while this was looked at for us so this did not hamper our enjoyment. All in all had a lovely weekend and would return again.
