We only stayed at the Riverdale Hall hotel for 1 night on a deal, and I would say that the offer was a steal.
It is clear that this hotel requires a bit of a makeover, that finances would appear to be an issue, and there could do with a bit more care on the finishing touches, but I can only say great things about the hotel, staff, food and location.
We stayed in a double room overlooking the cricket pitch and river. The rooms were clean, the beds very comfy, very nice bathrooms and great views. I can imagine it would be great in the summer sat on the balcony drinking a glass of Asda's finest.
The pool, sauna, and steam room are an added bonus, and ideal to pop in after a days, walking, sightseeing, etc. It would have been nice if it opened slightly earlier for a dip before breakfast though.
The best part of the hotel is the food. Although a small evening menu, there is enough choice for all, it is of very good quality, well presented, and very tasty. My compliments to the chef. The breakfast was similar but once again tasty and well presented. The salmon and scrambled eggs were delicious.
And finally to the staff. All the staff we encountered were friendly, attentive, helpful and nohing was too much troble. I wish to pay particular thanks to the two girls in the evening restaurant, Lorrena and Jamie, and then Haige who served us breakfast. All three were constantly busy but did so with a smile and enthusiasm. They are a credit to the hotel.
The hotel is a little gem, that is well worth a visit.
