“Fantastic location with stunning panoramic views”

We don't usually go back to the same place but we stayed at La Calera in June 2011 (experiencing the lunar eclipse) and loved it so much we went back again in October 2012 and experienced the buzz of the cheese festival in the village, the weather was excellent both times. Lyndsay and Mark are great down to earth hosts and their home, with adjoining apartments, is in a fantastic quiet location with stunning panoramic views. Our apartment was clean, comfortable, well equipped and there were several terraces to enjoy the views and tranquility. It is only a 5 minute walk into the historic village of Teba where there are ample bars and small restaurants. The walk up to the castle ruins is worthwhile to see the wonderful views of the countryside and for bird enthusiasts there are Choughs, Black Wheatears, Blue Rock Thrush, Thekla Larks and Stonechats to be seen. It is a good base to explore the Guadalhorce valley and lakes and we hope to return again soon.

“A Truly Fantastic Long Weekend”
Reviewed 27 March 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Mark & Lindsey are lovely people and make great hosts! The location is gorgeous - beautiful scenery and traditionally Spanish. Easy to book, great accommodation, excellent range of BMW bikes, very exciting and rewarding biking road. You will NOT be disappointed with your stay and will definitely want to go back.

stayed here for 2 weeks in August and were blown away by the location and the peace and quiet of the vlla, the partment had everything you could need and the honesty box by the pool for drinks is such a lovely idea, town was a 10 minute walk and food and drink was so cheap it was cheaper to eat out ,the hosts Mark/Lindsay were brilliant and so warm and helpful and there children were warm and friendly too ,the views from the villa are unreal and the lakes near by are well worth a visit we were very sad to leave this beautiful place and will visit again.

“Estupendo”

I'm writing this review sitting on the patio watching the sunrise over the mountains on the morning of our departure. The view is spectacular. This was our third visit here, the last one about five years ago. What can I say that hasn't already been said. This is the most stunning location for a peaceful and tranquil holiday. The villa is beautiful and set on the side of a mountain with fabulous panoramic views of the countryside. Our apartment was spotlessly clean and well stocked for this self catering holiday. Mark and Lindsey as always were great hosts and it was great to see them, the children and their dogs again. We were greeted as long lost friends and thoroughly enjoyed their company on a number of nights. La Calera is a good place for exploring Andalucia either by car or motorbike. Trips to Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba etc., are all within easy distance, not forgetting of course the numerous Pueblos Blancos which seem to be dotted on numerous hillsides.
We cannot recommend La Calera highly enough, it has to be seen and experienced to be believed.
Our holiday sadly did not get off to a great start as within 2 hours of arriving our daughter rang to say our house was flooding due to torrential rain and shortly thereafter we were told that we would not be able to live there for about 6 months. Mark and Lindsey were supportive and helped ease this worrying time for us.
It's not often we go back to the same place for a holiday and the fact that this was our third visit here speaks for itself.
And so as I finish the packing on this beautiful morning it's time to say adios to La Calera. A big thank you to Mark and Lindsey, the children and of course the dogs.
This is a must see location.
