“For 5 years we have stayed longer each year and will stay for 6 weeks in 2010”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2010

We have stayed in Bed and Breakfasts in many places in the world and this is the best one. It is best for service , food, luxurious rooms and especially for the treatment given the guest by the hosts. It is right on the ocean and the sunrises and the sunsets beat any we have seen on both sides of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. We will visit for six weeks in the fall of 2010 because we have had a super time for the previous 5 years. A few years back we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there and it is still one of the highlights of our many years of marriage.

My wife and I have stayed here several times. The location is fantastic - overlooking a beautiful sandy beach with broad vistas east and west. Magnificent sunsets and sunrises. This is one of a small cluster of dwellings with provincial park extending along the beach on either side, you feel like you are on a distant isle, yet if you get the urge, halifax is less than a thirty minute drive away. An extended bike/hike trail passes 100yards away, so when we can tear ourselves away from the ocean, we love to go along that path. In all the time we have been there, I am not sure we've had the same breakfast twice, Jane is a very creative cook. She and her husband Cal are very friendly and helpful. We look forward to our next visit.

Based on the description in the local travel guide, I was expecting some sort of very nice resort . A quote from the guide... "You will love the private beachfront and walking trails which meander through windswept sand dunes and up onto lofty cliff-tops and headlands exposing magnificent 360 degree panoramic views of the ocean & surrounding lakes". NOT!
We drove better than an hour to get out there, to find a house... Period. Nothing more than an average middle income house, divided off into three or four "suites" . WHAT A JOKE! Our suite was the "Tranquility by the Sea" - Also known as the garage. That's really what it was... a freakin garage. And you had to walk through the owners den to even get to it. I can't believe this place even exists.
The only thing I can say positive is when I refused to stay there, the lady didn't charge my credit card. We ended up driving back to Halifax and staying at the Hilton.
One other tip... If you are going to make a trip to Nova Scotia. DO NOT MISS CABOT TRAIL!!!

It is obvious that this person was not at Moonlight Beach Inn B&B on Lawrencetown Beach in Nova Scotia. We have been operating for 13 years and have welcomed thousands of Guests. We have about 12 guest books full of wonderful comments from guests who have stayed here from all over the world. We have many people who come back year after year because they love it so much.

We are licensed by Nova Scotia Tourism Dept. and inspected annually by the Canada Select Rating Program which has awarded our property 4 out of 5 stars.

Our Guest rooms are not "a garage" and you do not have to go through "our den" to get to them. Each of our Guest rooms has a lovely view of the ocean and the surrounding coastal scenery, and there are miles of hiking, cycling trails to enjoy...if you can drag yourself away from the beach!

It is a shame that any person can just post these derogatory reports without any proof of their comments.

I hope that this unfounded report does not deter other people from coming to visit our beautiful spot as we do love to share the natual beauty of this unique location with visitors to Nova Scotia and native Nova Scotians alike.

Also, the map showing our location (at the time of writing this) in incorrect. We are located just off Rte #207, directly on beautiful Lawrencetown Beach, which is just 1/2 hr from Halifax and the Airport.

My husband and I visited the Moonlight Beach Inn on our visit to Nova Scotia. I was by far the most beautiful of all the B&B's we visited. Within 10 minutes of arriving we knew that we wanted to extend our stay there. We ended up staying for 3 nights, and loved every minute of it. Our hosts, Jane and Cal were the most friendly, helpful people you could ever meet. The room was very large with a good size bathroom ensuite. There was a fridge, microwave and water cooler in the room along with some dishes and utensils. We were also told that we could use the kitchen if we wanted to, to bring home food and cook it up. We had an amazing view from our room overlooking the ocean and long stretch of beach. You are literally 10 steps to this massive beach from the entrance of the suite. There is nothing quite like walking down the beach as the tide is receding in your bare feet! We didn't get a chance to give surfing a try, but it is a popular beach for this and there were a few out there giving it a try when we were there, despite it being a little chilly. You are so close to Dartmouth and Halifax, just a quick 20 - 30 minute drive. The breakfast's were fantastic, my favourite was an egg's benedict with fresh crab! Absolutely unbelievable! We will definitely be telling all of our friends and family to visit.

We ended our vacation at the Moonlight Beach Inn. Jane and Cal were extremely friendly and made us feel at home. We stayed in the Suite Next-A-Sea room and although the price was a bit more than other places we stayed, we had an incredible view and easy access to the beach. You literally fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing! The room was clean and was equipped with a kitchenette, fireplace, and a decent size bathroom.

My husband and I stayed at this B&B for part of our honeymoon. We were very happy with the overall experience. The room was clean and spacious with a private bathroom and balcony. The property is literally right on the beach, the ocean is steps away! The breakfast served was delicious and creative. The owners were so helpful, friendly and kind. We didn't arrive until about 11pm the first night and they happily stayed up until we arrived to show us to our room. They gave us great tips for places to visit and things to do during our stay. They made us feel very welcome and we plan to return sometime soon!

This B&B is the only Nova Scotia B&B that we were able to find that actually WAS directly on a sandy beach with waves. Our suite, the Seaspray, was huge, tastefully furnished and had windows looking over the ocean in three directions. My husband and I stayed a week, enjoyed the creative and ample breakfasts, and would go back. I recommend you spend the extra for Seaspray suite. The inn is not well marked...call the hosts beforehand for specific directions.

A belated thank you for your review. We are so glad you found our little piece of beachfront paradise and decided to spend your well earned vacation time here. The Seaspray suite is gorgeous, isn't it? While we tried to create an interior environment that would due justice to the area...we just can't compete with the amazing Oceanview outside the windows ;-)
