“Amazing 5 day stay at this property”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

We were on a 10 day trip to Tahiti and spent 5 days in Moorea at the Intercontinental Resort and Spa. It was a perfect place to stay with family, kids really enjoyed the turtle and dolphin encounter.

We got a overwater bunglow which is really nice as kids would get out of bed in the morning and jump straight in the water for an hour or so of snorkeling. Once done with that, we would head out for awesome breakfast. After the breakfast, it was all about soaking in sun, dipping in pool and enjoy the drinks at swimup bar. The stay included free rental of kayaks, snorkeling gear for the week so that was nice.

Dinner was wonderful at the restaurants, we didn't try the buffet. The evening show as really nice.

We did do the ATV Tour, swimming with the sharks in the nearby lagoon and the some great fun snorkeling.

Room Tip: Over the water rooms are totally worth it.

Dear Guests,
Ia Orana from Moorea!
I am delighted to hear that you feel you made the right choice for your stay with family at our Hotel.
The resort is indeed suitable for both couples and families as its' sheer size enables one to either quietly cocoon in an intimate location or participate in one of the many activities available.
Thank you again for your comment.
Hopefully see you again one day!
Kind sunny regards,

Over the water bungalow, superb view and comfort. Wonderful place to stay. Even when crowded you feel to be alone in the hotel. The only which accepts 3 people in the room. Excellent location, walk distant from Tahia Pearls Store. I wouldn't change for any other ...

We stayed for five night in March and still I cannot find the words to describe what an amazing time we had staying at the Intercontinental Moorea. The people were some of the friendliest I have ever come across and the food was amazingly delicious.
We had a beach front bungalow and it couldn't have been more perfect. I don't think I have ever felt so relaxed on vacation before.
If you are thinking about staying here you will not be disappointed!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Intercontinental Moorea for our honeymoon. The resort was lovely, but lacked a “wow” factor. We are Ambassador Members and upgraded to an OWB. We had half board included, and enjoyed the breakfast buffet.

The OWB was just awesome, we loved it. It is very large, spacious and well thought out. The deck was awesome on the villa too. It is decorated in Polynesian décor. The best part about our room was jumping off the deck into amazing snorkeling! The coral was excellent all around our room.

The resort overall is large (didn’t have that private, intimate feeling that the IC Thalasso does) but none the less, it’s impressive and there is lots to do. The staff is so friendly and the grounds are gorgeous.

Highlights:
-Snorkeling, kayaking, etc on the resort. The snorkeling at the resort rivals that of the Coral Garden in Bora Bora
- Dolphin Center! Um, yes there is a dolphin center on the resort!! Awesome. We didn’t have the budget to swim with the dolphins but I was there for the feedings and just stood in awe of them. They were born in captivity and are very well taken care of. I applaud the resort for making this a very educational experience. The same thing for the turtle experience. I’d stay here again just to see the dolphins! Next time I will swim them.
- Polynesian Fire Dance show the first night at the resort. I wasn’t too keen on it – and actually end up really enjoying it. Don’t miss it!
-Beautiful pools and great restaurants. Nop notch. Beach lounge area was lovely.
- Rented a car from Avis instead the hotel and went to the Lagoonarium. The fish were incredible, sharks and sting rays, eels, wow. We liked that there were ropes and one can explore on their own. This was by far the best snorkeling on our trip. You can also reach out to them on FB and arrange a hotel pickup.
- Walked to Snack Mahana from our hotel.
- They spoiled us Ambassador members too – they spoil you in general at this place – THANK You!

Lowlights:
- We went in March and experienced a horrible tropical storm. It is the rainy season and rain is life. But be prepared that this may happen on your trip! Of course nothing that the hotel could control
- The bungalows are close by each other.. On the first day, the family next to us had their two young children out on the balcony. They were loud, crying, etc and it ruined our day. We talked to the hotel and they did nothing about it. They really need to have an adults only section at this hotel since the rooms are so close by. It was dreadful, and when we asked the couple politely to put their screaming child inside (probably screaming because it was so hot and humid at us) that didn't work either.
- The gym could be updated, treadmill is rusted out. Also more variety in the gym. As the weather was so poor, we spent a bit of time in the gym.
- Check-in was a little confusing – lots of guests checking in at the same time – but we figured it out. The lobby could also use some updating – it has the right ingredients to be a really incredible but was a bit dated. Maybe don’t have the ladies selling the necklaces out front (although they, along with everyone else were so friendly).

Room Tip: We were pleased with our upgrade to an OWB bungalow even though we originally booked a Deluxe Garden...

Just got back from a three night stay in this hotel. We stayed in an over water bungalow, 626, two down from the dolphin area. The bungalows were superb. Beware of the current though, you need to be a strong swimmer. Nice reef out front with lots of fish and black tip sharks.

The hotel, food and staff

Service is poor, expect island time and you will be fine. No tips to work for so the pace is slow. Breakfast is expensive at $50 per person. Try and get this included in your stay. Do not pay for a dolphin show unless you wanna go in the water with them. You can watch the show for free.

Nice safe snorkeling in the lagoon.

WiFi, get the premium speed and you can connect 4 phones/tablets. We shared with another couple on a day by day basis.

There is a small shop 5 minutes walk. Right outside the entrance of the hotel, you can buy cheaper wine and snacks here

Room Tip: attached a picture of the layout of the bungalows. We stayed in 626 and you could watch the dolphin...

We stayed in a villa with plunge pool. Good sized villa with living room and cozy bedroom. The walls are a little thin, made out of bamboo I think, or other kind of lightweight wood material. Sometimes there's even little tiny holes in the walls that you can see outside, but doesn't affect anything. Our villa was steps from the lagoon by way of the back of our plunge pool, so that was easy access.

Great resort grounds with a large swimming and snorkeling lagoon. I wouldn't suggest OWB here unless you can guarantee one facing the ocean and not the lagoon, and even then I wouldn't really go for it here. Save it for Bora Bora. You can't really swim in the ocean here with strong currents and deep waters, so you can't enjoy jumping off your swimming deck in your OWB. They also have a large set of dolphin pools, with around 4 or 5 dolphins with marine biologists in house to take care of them. There's also a sea turtle rescue pool with maybe 6 or 7 turtles. I saw one that must have been 500+ lbs, truly gigantic. I think they save them from the local beaches if they're injured, and release them back out when they're healthy, or maybe just keep them if they can't really recover maybe.

The hotel has a dive center located on grounds. For snorkelers, the hotel lagoon already has a large variety of fishes, but if you want to see absolutely gorgeous clear waters and much more fish, ask for a boat ride to the motu. It costs something like $15 roundtrip, and they drop you off in a protected channel in between 2 motus with beautiful waters. The current is somewhat strong here, but since it's so shallow, just either float with the current and walk back on the beach, or you can swim slowly against current, which I prefer because it's more steady and you're more in control of where you're going. There are pufferfish, flatfish, eels, sting rays, and even more variety of fish that you'd see near the main island.

Good hotel restaurant here with reasonable prices. Nothing too fancy, but good ocean views next to the pool, which is fine. Moorea itself has a lot more cheap eats (comparatively) than Bora Bora, so if you have a car, you can explore the area. Even without cars, there are many restaurants in the area who can pick you up if you call ahead. We tried one called Coco D'isle and it was great food at great prices, with a sand floor but not too rowdy. It's a nice little place, look it up on tripadvisor, highly recommended.

Moorea itself is beautiful. I would recommend renting a car in Tahiti and taking it over to Moorea on the ferry. That way you have the freedom of checking out Cooks Bay, Belvedere lookout, and other spots on the island. Moorea is a much more laid back place than Bora Bora or Papeete, great place to spend a week or so to just kick back and relax, with non-inflated prices like Bora Bora.
