Located well out of the town of SE of Angouleme in quiet horse country, the Domaine de Chatelard was the PERFECT stop on our route from the Loire to Bordeaux!
The beautiful 19th C building sits high on a bluff overlooking the Domaine's private lake - with a spectacular terrasse ideal for an afternoon cocktail (made all the more comfortable with the warm blankets provided to cuddle against the cool spring air).
Pascale & Ivan, the young couple who opened the Domaine in 2009, are working hard to deliver attentive, warm hospitality on this beautiful property.
The petit-dejeuner was generous and wonderfully fresh - and dinner was to die for (especially the massive cheese cart!)
Our room was huge (with somewhat quirky decor in flaming red & purple) and very comfortable.
All in all, a real "find".....
We wish Pascale & Ivan continued great success ! (we will do our best to return, and will most certainly recommend the Domaine de Chatelard to all of our travelling friends!)More
