Chez Irene is a wonderful country farmhouse kitchen restaurant. Irene will greet you on arrival and although she doesn't speak too much English she makes herself understood with her friendly welcome and obvious enthusiasm for the food she cooks to order. There is no menu just what she has in her garden, in the fieldsand woods around or what her husband has provided from one of his shooting trips. We were treated to a wonderful selection of mushrooms the first time we ate here and her rabbit pate which comes in a huge dish for you to help yourself to as much as you want ! There is always a vegetarian alternative and a choice of two starters and two main courses.
This is just so different from the usual restaurants, it is like being in someones home. The prices are very reasonable according to how much you eat ! By the way the cheese board is certainly not to be missed and that is left for you to nibble away to your hearts content !
We have been back to this restaurant again and it was just as good and we have recommended it to friends too who have loved it as much as we do.
It 's not huge, it's not posh and there is not an extensive wine list, but if you like fresh locally produced French country cooking and a wonderful friendly atmosphere, you will not be disappointed.
