“Gorgeous villa in a gorgeous mountain town--”
Reviewed 19 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Staying at this villa was incredible and is one of the most memorable travel experiences we have ever had.
The villa itself was gorgeous, the patios were filled with fragrant herbs, an orange tree and gorgeous flowers with a ton of seating to fully enjoy everything. The villa was clean, modern and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need (including a ton of great movies and books to occupy evenings spent in!).
The guest book is incredibly informative with all of the restaurants in Pigna and the neighboring towns mapped out and rated. Other activities such as hikes and swimming are mapped out as well, so it is a well-rounded and detailed book that really helps make your experience in the area amazing. Traveling to Monaco/France is very easy from the area, as well as other parts of Italy, so it is a perfect location to explore everything. Pigna itself deserves quite a bit of exploration, even though its tiny, because everything there is stunning, historical and amazing.

The only thing we recommend is to AVOID RENTING A CAR unless absolutely necessary. Transit in the area is very cheap (1.50 a trip!) and pretty reliable, as there is a bus that goes from Pigna into the larger metropolitan area of Ventimiglia, where you can take a train anywhere again for very affordable prices. Driving was very stressful, there is little parking in the towns and the streets are very narrow, so being in a bus just feels a lot more secure.

Overall, ABSOLUTELY WOULD GO BACK and hope to again in the future! :)

“A deliciously slow vacation.”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This is a get away from it all retreat in the foothills of the Italian alps. The views are spectacular and the light is stunning. The house is large and comfortable and the outside space is delightful with plenty sunny and shaded areas. We made great use of the BBQ in the evenings watching the sun going down with a cold glass of vermintino. A complete contrast to our busy hectic schedule at home. We could feel the time pass a little more slowly and felt recharged by the end of a perfect week. The locals are extremely friendly, the cost of produce etc was very reasonable all in making for a relaxing and very affordable break.

“Unforgettable view”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The apartment is terrific with everything you need The two terraces providsd plenty of outdoor space. Pigna itself is a beautiful old village with an endless warren of fascinating alleyways. The uninterrupted .view from the apartment across the valley to Castel Vittoria is stunning.
Lots to see locally without the need for a car.
Comprehensive and accurate information regarding area and property supplied by the owner.
Authentic Italian village experience.... will certainly try for a repeat visit.

“Beautiful landscape, tranquil atmosphere”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I stayed here with a group of friends whilst visiting the Monaco Grand Prix in 2015.

Arriving at Nice airport, we got a train to Ventimiglia (Vintimille if getting a ticket from France) and then a bus to Pigna. Although the villa is in the middle of the countryside, the transport links were fantastic and our route was pain free (the locals on the bus were also fantastic and helped us to know where to get off - even offering us a lift up the hill!).

Arriving at the villa I was blown away by the tranquil views encouraging us to completely unwind from everyday life. The villa is in a fantastic location and the interior (and gardens) is great (and very pretty). It has clearly been lovingly looked after and maintained by Georgia (the lady that looks after the Villa and gave us the keys) and Ian and Family. Pigna itself is a stunning Medieval town in the mountains oozing with character and framed with waterfalls and beautiful views.

I would definitely recommend going to the Pizzeria at Dolceaqua. We went with a group of 11 and the food and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. In Pigna, Sulponte do incredible pizzas with really friendly staff, and Carlas is a great place for some yummy paninis.

Overall, I would definitely recommend staying in this Villa. It suits everyone - friends, families, and couples, and guarantees a good time.

Thanks for having us!

Beautiful apartment in tranquil medieval village in the italian hills. Breathtaking views. Friendly locals. Totally relaxing yet close enough to the riveria coast if you need more action. If you enjoy your exercise the scenery is stunning and the hills are great for cycling, walking or running and then cool down in the lock rock pool afterwards.

“A great base for exploring the medieval villages around the Ligurian coast.”

We had a great week in this house in Pigna and will no doubt be back again next year.
The village is about an hours drive from Nice and a steady climb up the valley from Ventimiglia. The house is very clean and very well equipped and as it is located within the medieval part of the village you get a real sense of history with the narrow winding walkways and little secret passages. There are a couple of small bars nearby and restaurants down at the bottom of the village, all very friendly and serving good pizza, pasta and coffee.
In the house there is a comprehensive guide detailing all the information needed about the village, shops, restaurants, bars and things to do and places to see. The nearby villages: Dolceacqua, Apricale, Castle Vittorio are all interesting and worth a visit.

Lovely apartment, I particulay liked the top garden which was superb for sunbathing and the lovely leafy lower garden for shadier eating. I was advised about the mosquitos being a problem, but kept covered in repellant and never found it an issue at all.
