Sougia is a great little town if you are looking to get away and relax. We enjoyed this town and especially the ease of using the bus to the Samaria gorge hike start, and then the ferry back to Sougia.
idomeneas leaves some to be desired. the prices are a bargain, but you get what you pay for. The balcony was decent, and you can see the sea, though the immediate view is of an abandoned lot.
The apartment is very large with a large sitting room and then a bedroom. The bed is comfortable and the place is kept nice and clean. Our main issue with the place is the shower. It's a typical tiny Euro-shower with just enough room to stand inside. however, there is no shower curtain, so the entire bathroom gets wet. a squeegee on a stick is provided to mop up the water, but it seems like such a pain to mop up after each shower. There was no hot water for our stay...only tepid and cold water. And the shower nozzle is attached to the wall around knee to waist level rather than above your head. the water pressure is extremely low. we wouldn't stay here again mostly b/c we'd be looking for a better shower. maybe if there was hot water our story would be different.More
