Rooms very spacious, clean and well preserved. Kitchen, cafetiere and all basic utensils there.aircon worked. Balcony with a somewhat distant view to the sea and two comfortable chairs for those lazy moments. Owner very polite and kind, offered us cake and cookies on more than one occasion. Sea is three mins walk, beach is nice, water is fantastic, prices fair.

We stayed here four nights. The rooms are very modern, the rooms are very comfortable and clean, and t as another reviewer noted, while the owner does not speak a lot of English, she is very kind and friendly - left us home made cake when we checked in. The price makes it a major bargain. Sougia is a small place, so you're a short walk to restaurants or the beach. I highly recommend the nearby Polyfimos restaurant -- really great food at excellent prices. The E4 trail is nearby and is quite beautiful. You can catch Capt George's water taxi to the ruins at LIssos if you're not up to the hike. Sougia is a great place to relax.

Sougia is in South Crete and looks out on to the Libyan Sea. We stayed in the Idomeneas Apartments & Studios in late September 2008. They are positioned at the entrance to Sougia and a 3 minute walk from the sea front.
The apartments are on ground and first floor level, with the upper ones having a distant view of the sea. We were downstairs and the apartment was excellent, very clean with decent equipment. The lady owner spoke limited English but was very helpful. the village of Sougia is simply wonderful provided you are not looking for wild nightlife! A great place to chill out on the beach with a book. There are several excellent restaurants in the village. The splendid beach is 1200metres in length - the east half is nudist and incidentally by far the busiest part of the beach.
The E4 walk route passes thruough the village so there is a steady stream of walkers. Also well worth a visit is the ruins of the old town of Lissos. It is a 90 minute walk from Sougia.
