“Even better than last time”
Reviewed 26 October 2011

This was our second stay here and it was superb. The rooms and bathrooms have been completely re-furnished to a very high standard. The bedrooms are simply furnished with mainly antique furniture with a simple colour scheme of dark brown furniture with white carpet, bed, towels, etc. and it looks terrific. Plus no TV/DVD to clutter up the room. The bathrooms are also superb and the level of quality is better than pretty much any hotel I've ever stayed in.

Erica's food was as first-rate as ever, with eggs from the chickens outside and some of the veg being from the garden. Generous portions of healthy, top quality food served with real care and attention. Make no mistake - this is better than most restaurants.

We stayed in the Garden Bedroom at £85 a night including a faultless (black pudding available!) cooked breakfast. That is a bargain for a place like this.

Gary and Erica made us feel so at home it took us all of an hour to totally wind down. This is how all B+Bs should be run. Highly recommended.

The service was amazing, and the food, made by the owner Erica, was really tasty and healthy. The room that we stayed in was very comfortable and the amazing views were so relaxing. Lake Farmhouse is only 30-40minutes from Bude, where we managed to go body boarding. It is really cheap to get a wet suit and a board. If you like the combination of countryside, farm, relaxing lifestyle and beach, then this is the perfect place to stay in. Enjoy!!

We arrived on the Thursday having travelled down directly from work in London, we were welcomed with a snack before retiring to our sumptuous bedrooms. the rooms, were beautiful, extremely comfortable and wonderfully clean, with a flask of cold milk for our teas in the morning, you could tell alot of care and thought has gone in to the comfort of the guests.

The breakfast in the morning was amazing, with so much on offer, cereal, yoghurt, fruit as well as a terrific fry up made by Erica.

It was the perfect break for us, with myself were 2 of my friends/ colleagues, we all have stressful roles at work and it was the perfect break to relax and rejuvenate ourselves. We relaxed by the pool - even though the weather wasn't very good it was lovely to take in the fresh air. We visited the pigs and the lambs which was really fun, and then ventured out to Bude for a spot of body boarding in the rain - the best time to go apparently.

It was truly perfect and I can't wait to visit again and hopefully stay longer than a weekend

Room Tip: Stay for as long as you can to really experience everything Devon has to offer

Stayed here for a long weekend with friends recently and had an amazing time. The food was fabulous, Erica is an amazing cook and extremely welcoming. The rooms were lovely, they were very clean and nicely decorated. The garden was also great and we particularly loved the animals which added to the rural feel. Didn't get to use the pool as the weather was poor but it did look very inviting.

Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful country break. A great place to get away from it all for a few days.

Rural setting- lovely house. We received a wonderful warm welcome.Great home made cakes on arrival. Our double ensuite was spotless and the bathroom was the best we have ever experienced in years of staying in bed and breakfast accomodation. We highly recommend Erica's cooking both for breakfasts and evening meal -quality of food and attention to detail was second to none. Our only slight disappointment was the absence of a t.v./ dvd player / c.d player / radio in both bedroom or guest lounge. Otherwise- faultless. We would not hestitate to recommend Lake Farmhouse.

Lake Farmhouse provides a lovely, peaceful respite from the real world. Gary and Erica are delightful hosts. Breakfast is awesome. Erica's garden will only get better. We loved looking out of our bedroom window at the garden and the lambs in the field beyond, and nearby Devon is both beautiful and full of fun, interesting things to do and places to visit. Accomodations are simple -- except for our sumptuous bathroom -- but extremely comfortable. All in all, our highest recommendation.

Room Tip: We stayed in the en suite room, if you want not to share a bath.
