We spent a couple of days in the Oak Cottage with our dog. It's a lovely place to stay and couldn't be better placed for things to do. So many local attractions welcome dogs and there are plenty of places to walk through some stunning scenery. We will definitely come back soon.

As soon as we visited Alison House, we decided we wanted to have our wedding reception here. The function rooms are comfortable and welcoming and strike the right balance between formality and cosiness. The gardens are amazing and we really hoped that we would have weather that allowed us to use them as over-flow space. Sharon and her staff were helpful right from the start of our planning process making recommendations for florists, cakes etc. They never over-sell and always make great, good value, high quality recommendations. In the end, the wedding reception was superb. There was plenty of food (we had a BBQ which ended up being served as a buffet due to rain on the morning of the wedding) and everyone commented on how good it was. Sharon even managed to arrange good weather for the afternoon despite a very grim forecast so our ambition to use the gardens was fully realised! The waiting and bar staff worked very, very hard all weekend and as other reviewers have stated, nothing was too much trouble. Every guest had a positive experience of the reception.

In terms of accommodation, we had the exclusivity package from the Friday to the Sunday so the bridal party and close family guests could all stay together. The rooms were immaculate. There were a few niggles with hot water supply for late bathers and the generator/extractor outside one of the rooms but overall these were very minor and did nothing to spoil the weekend.

I would absolutely recommend Alison House as a wedding venue. By the Sunday, the place felt like home (I wish!).

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor room to stay away from the generator.

We got married at Alison House Hotel earlier this month. The hotel is in a beautiful location surrounded by fields and hills. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and in my opinion all went above and beyond their normal duties to ensure everything ran smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated. The Arkwright Suite is a lovely large room very spacious, with a huge bathroom! I was very impressed with the new family room, again this was beautifully decorated and had plenty of space for everyone. The disabled room was also very good and had plenty of space. The food was excellent, we were offered a wide selection to choose our wedding breakfast from. They are able to cater to a wide range of diets so even the fussiest eater should be happy here. The food portions were excellent, everyone definitely had their fill so you don't have to worry about hungry guests.

If you're just looking for a hotel to stay in for a couple of days, then look no further. This is a beautiful hotel, and everything is very reasonably priced so you should be very happy here. You are guaranteed value for money.

Our guests were all very impressed with the hotel and staff as well. Many of our guests commented that they had never heard of Alison House before but wished they had. It's real shame that this hotel is not more widely known. It really is worth visiting. We're looking forward to going back to see everyone again! A huge thank you to Sharon for making the whole planning process so smooth!

Room Tip: The rooms on the back get lovely views of the gardens, but from what I have seen all of the rooms ar...

We had the pleasure of two nights here whilst sight seeing in the area. What a gem! Lovely grounds. Corteous staff and a lovely breakfast with a truly proper 'English' feel which we loved. Will definitely return.

We've been staying at Alison House for a number of years now, and every time, it doesn't disappoint. From the large spacious rooms to the friendly welcome, it's one of our favourite hotels in the UK. To wake up to the sound of birdsong rather than traffic is one if its appeals, and the ten minute walk into Cromford to enjoy the local pubs and food make it a great place to stop.

Room Tip: The duluxe rooms are very spacious and have lovely views over the gardens and the countryside.

We stayed with our two children and had a lovely large and bright family room with great views over the glorious Derbyshire countryside. The staff were, without exception, welcoming, friendly and helpful. We dined in twice, but were a little disappointed that the menu did not change at all during our 3 night stay. The dining room itself is very bright and welcoming and there is a good bar and decent lounge too. Breakfasts are OK, with plenty of choice, but not exceptional. Overall, a very good standard and would be excellent with a little tweaking.
