This amazing posada nestled on the hillside will blow your senses! Set at 1400m the temperature is cooler than the lower (hotter & dustier) villages and the views in all directions are sensational. Part of the 'Circuito de la Excelencia', this family owned & operated gem is a must visit. Service is fantastic, food is varied and tasty, beds are comfy & rooms are full of character & charm. The beautiful gardens contrast against the colourful buildings and were lush, even when we visited at the end of the dry season! The outdoor tables which overlook stunning mountain views are the perfect spot for a glass of wine or coffee, especially at sunset. A Library Room in the main building is a great place for a quiet chat or rowdy game of scattegories! Kids will enjoy the DVD collection in T.V. room. Be sure to treat yourself to a spa and massage - the perfect antidote to a strenuous day hiking or well deserved treat. Easy drive to Quibor for Artisan crafts; the cheapest in the area. Easy drive to El Tocuyo; Temple of La Concepcion & Ecological Museum can be visited here. Walking in Yacambu National Park is possible but be sure to hire a guide ahead of time (the owners will help with this) ... as with most hiking in Venezuela, even the best laid plans may fail! I highly recommend and would definitely return.

Room Tip: The family cabins have spectacular mountain views. 4 persons in 2x double beds in the loft, 1x large...

My wife and I spent 5 days at El Encanto this last summer. The place is in a beautiful location, nestled in the mountains, about an hour from the city of Barquisimeto. The views from the posada are incredible, both during the day and during the evenings, and the weather is warm enough during the day without being hot, and cold enough at night without being too chilly. The cabins are made to look rustic from the outside, but inside they have all the amenities of a very nice hotel. Breakfast is included, and if you desire lunch or dinner, at a very reasonable cost, you just have to let the staff now the previous day so they can have it ready for you.
Many day trips are readily available from the posada... the National Park of Yacambu, the abandoned town of Jay, where the land subsided and the town was abandoned. The town of Quibor, where you can find all kinds of locally produced arts and crafts as well as a pre-colombian era cemetery.

Room Tip: Also has a very nice Spa with great massage services at a very reasonable rate.

Posada El Encanto is a wonderful place, far away from the noise and dirty air of the main cities. The rooms are located in individual cabins, with terracotta roofs, the view from the rooms is fantastic, a fertile valley between mountains. The gardens are delicate designed with flowers of multiple colours.
As if this is not enough, the posada's staff makes you feel at home. They are very friendly and caring. The food is fantastic, from fresh ingredients, healthy and yummy. I am vegan and recommend this place for people with diet restrictions.
I will definitely recommend this place for couples and groups of people wanting to find an oasis of calm and beauty.
The main inconvenience is that you will have to drive more than an hour from the main city Barquisimeto.

We stayed for 2 nights while on a visit to the area from Caracas. The posada is in a lovely location with great views from the rooms and main building. It is a little away from things but this is both good and bad.

The owner is very friendly and helpful; the even helped bring a mechanic to look at our friends' car problems. He speaks reasonable English in additional to his native Spanish.

The rooms, grounds, restaurant and lounge areas are immuculate. A basic but healthy dinner is served; the owner also owns a restaurant a short drive away but it is open from 8am until 6pm.

We have no hesitation in recommending this posada; it is a delight.
