This was our third holiday at the WRC and we stayed in the same lodge (Lound) as we did two years ago. Clean and tidy when we arrived, though we found the pillows to be a bit small, thin and poor quality ! The bird feeder outside the lodge was AWOL when we got there, but was quickly replaced when I asked for a new one.

The major change was the addition of a hot tub, which we used frequently. The only complaint would be that it's not very private as it's on the front veranda and therefore overlooked by the neighbours. However, there is nowhere else for it to go, and the next lodge, although it had a much more private hot tub, has no view other than the next lodges. So the choices are simple, view or privacy. We took the view !

The pool was as we remembered it and the kids used it every day. The cafe staff were polite and friendly as usual. In previous years we went swimming in the evening, and used the electronic key to get in after everyone else had gone, but this year it was never very busy and they often had the pool to themselves. A rubber mat between the pool and changing rooms wouldn't go amiss !!!!!

We were more than a little disappointed that the Waveney Inn didn't offer the evening entertainment that it used to, e.g. the quiz night and bingo (I don't normally do bingo but it was good fun :) ). We only went in on one evening, when they had a band playing, which I reckon saved us nearly £100 in drinks and impulse purchases of chips. The food did look very nice but was very expensive.

We went on the Betsy Jane boat trip to Oulton Broad, which was fun, as the kids were allowed to steer the boat. The guy running it is a very nice chap ! Well worth it. They also do a curry run and sunday breakfast.

All in all we enjoyed our stay and will go again, if not next year then the year after.

We stayed at Beech Farm Barn which is about a 10 minute walk from the centre but you can use all the facilities. The barn was absolutely lovely and we made good use of the hot tub. It was great value for money when compared with lodges with hot tubs. It is very pretty & secluded so although we were only an hour from home we felt we were miles from civilisation. The owner was very friendly and helpful and keeps a large collection of alpacas which we were welcome to visit. My only feedback would be that there were a few things missing we would of assumed a property of this standard would have like a toaster and it has a washing machine but no airer or pegs and an iron but no ironing board. It always amuses me when there are random things like a lemon squeezer and egg cups but not a practical dish drainer so washing up gets perilously piled on top of itself. Use the dishwasher I hear you cry! Well we only had 4 plates and 4 mugs and 4 forks etc so we had no choice. My last suggestion would be to put the tv in the main bedroom on the wall because the bed footer is so high the poor soul on the right side of the bed hasnt a hope a seeing the screen. That said there is a huge DVD collection to suit all ages and tastes and the property as a whole is lovely. The Waveney Inn was excellent. Not cheap but great food and excellent service. A nice latte too. We hired a Skipper for the day and would thoroughly recommend it. The staff were very helpful and friendly but we would of appreciated it if they had warned us that we needed a lighter for the hob to make a coffee. Don't bother with the bike hire, the selection was rubbish and there was none for children. The nearest place to hire them was Fritton Lake but they wanted £7 an hr per bike - bit pricey for a family of 4. Overall we would recommend the River Centre as a great holiday choice.

We have just returned from a weeks stay. The site is not what we expected having looked at the website. Toilets and shower blocks are in need of general maintenance and a good clean. The pitches are very cramped there are just too many tents in such a small area. The play area is fabulous, the pub on site is lovely and the pool although small was fine for what we needed. I feel it is over priced and the showers are not luxurious as described on the website.

I was sorry to read this review. It seems that we must try harder to help customers to choose the right pitch for their needs, but this can be difficult because so many people seem to be unaware of the size of their tent. What we can promise is that our pitches are exactly the size that we describe. Most of our pitches are 10m across and 8m deep and there are 6 supersize pitches which are 12m x 10m. This space needs to accommodate your tent, guy ropes and car. The key advice to anyone looking to camp with us is to ensure that you understand the size of your tent (maybe erect it in the garden if you've only just purchased it) and book the right size pitch! Our shower and WC facilities have just been subject to a random inspection by Visit England's assessors, who have confirmed our 5 star rating, with higher marks than last year. I feel that 2 stars overall is a bit mean for a park with a 'fine swimming pool', fabulous play area' and 'lovely pub'.

High on our list of priorities when camping (in a tent) is the need for a flat pitch. There are only 3 suitable Flat Tent Pitches which are at the front of the marina - and are therefore not very private. All in all, this site has great toilet and shower facilities but has nowhere near enough Washing up places. The tent pitches are far too small and steep and you will find your guy lines criss crossing other campers' tents - which, apart from being inconvenient is a fire risk surely. The site was less than one third occupied (for tents) but we still had to queue for ages to use the facilities. Yes the toilet/showers were great to use, but I don't go camping to spend all my time in the Toilet/Showers, I would prefer a flat pitch with much more privacy between other campers, and much more basic washing facilities. So long as the facilities are clean that's all you need. I can only guess how awful it is when the site is fully occupied. Some of the tent pitches are too steep to be of any use at all. So if you want to pay a lot of money to camp on really steep sloping pitches, really really close to other campers and want to spend most of your time in the very nice toilets, this is for you. We won't be going back. We took a dinghy to use and asked for some advice from the shop - they were very impolite and not at all helpful. I even bought a river licence so I could take the dinghy onto the broads and asked if we could borrow some life jackets - there were loads spare hanging in their boathouse, but all I got in rteply was, you have to buy them. Staff were very polite in the pool area and the food was good value, but generally, the staff were not helpful, hence the low rating.

I was sorry to read this review, especially as it is fundamentally inaccurate and misleading. We are a small Park and our staff try very hard to keep everyone happy. Whilst it does appear that we sometimes need to try harder to communicate the size of our tent pitches, this can be difficult because so many people have no idea of the size of their tent and book a pitch which is too small. What we can promise is that our pitches are exactly the size that we describe and they are flat. Most of our pitches are 10m across and 8m deep and there are 6 (not 3) larger ones at the front which are 12m x 10m. This space needs to accommodate your tent, guy ropes and car. We have 3 times more showers toilets, and washing up sinks than the number recommended by Visit England's assessors, who have just carried out a random check and confirmed our 5 star rating. The key advice to anyone looking to camp with us is to ensure that you understand the size of your tent (maybe erect it in the garden if you've only just purchased it) and book the right size pitch!

A friend and I had travelled from London to the coast for some camping. In our resorts brochure was an advert for the Waveney centre, where you could rent boats, canoes, kayaks, etc. So we made the trip from our camp site to the river centre and rented some canoes for the afternoon. It was bliss. The staff were very helpful and the newly renovated restaurant was perfect for a meal before our fun. We really wished we had booked a camp site on location so we could take advantage of the river every day. We will definitely be back - but next time for a few days :)
