“Cosy and comfortable cottage in a scenic village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We had a really lovely week in the Peak District. The cottage is really nice and cosy, and it has all the amenities you can think of (tv, wifi, stereo with dozens of cd, dvd), and Eyam is a nice small village pretty close to all the interesting places in the District. And it has some beautiful walks really close by.
Miners Arm, the local pub is good, but The Bulls Head in Foolow became our favourite, the landlord's a great character, and you can walk there with a scenic footpath.

Will be back!

“Very good property in good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This was a holiday property for up to two people which was great for my wife and I. It was comfortable, warm and clean with a good place for walking boots. The WiFi was a bit troublesome but we were on holiday so we did not need it very much. You could see a bus stop from the cottage. A train staton with a free car park was a short drive away. A good pub, and a good Church in the village and many good walks, both from the village and a little further afield.

“Very comfortable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We enjoyed staying at Silk Cottage for a week. It has everything we need, even lots of DVDs for relaxing evenings, maps for walkings and walking sticks. A local veg shop was only a couple of minutes walking distance, which was convenient.

“Very nice cottage in lovely village”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed for four nights in Silk Cottage and found it to be a great place to explore the Peak District. It is situated in the lovely historic village of Eyam.

Although small, the cottage is ideal for couples. You enter into the kitchen which is well equipped and upstairs doubles as a lounge/bedroom. The bath/shower are located in a room off the kitchen. Gas central heating ensures the property is warm and there are lovely views across the dales from upstairs.

Slight negatives include it is much lighter upstairs than down and the cold stone floor in the kitchen meant we tended to eat dinner upstairs rather than make use of the table downstairs. Also, having the bathroom downstairs means it suffers from condensation so can feel a bit clammy. It is clean, however. Finally, the owners are clear that the parking space only fits a small car - they are not joking here but there does appear to be parking spots available across the road which would suit larger vehicles.

Booking the cottage was simple and the owner responded quickly to emails. We would recommend this cottage to others and would stay here again in future.

Management Response

The parking space can fit a larger car, as can be seen on our website, where we show a 4 wheel drive vehicle in the parking spot. Alternatively, there is parking opposite the cottage on the road.

“Lovely cottage, great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Good value stay in a cosy, clean, well presented and well equipped cottage. It was nice to stay in a historic cottage. The village was in a good location for visiting places like Castleton, Bakewell and Ladybower Reservoir. Booking process was very smooth and the owner responded to emails quickly.
