Went here for Sunday lunch today. The staff are very friendly and extra helpful. Even though it was a bank holiday we were made to feel special. The view from the premises is spectacular and plenty of free parking. I had a small roast pork dinner, which still came with an Yorkie and lovely crackling and plenty of gravy. My friend had a Yorkshire pudding with sausage and onion gravy, served with lovely vegetables and really homemade chunky chips. We were both too full for pudding but the dessert menu sounded scrumptious. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The barrel is a lovely local pub, set up high over the historic village of eyam. Excellent for lunchtime or early evening drinking, catch a sunset if you can with a. Glorious view over 4 counties worth of sheep, and stone walled fields . They do good home cooked food, with a reasonable selection of regular dishes and rotating desserts. The pies are good, proper crusts and generous well cooked fillings, rather than the appalling 'stew'n'a-lid' that are far too common. Barrel pies are well cooked, clearly home made with fine pastry and fillings. Their liver was bold, tender and well cooked with thoughtful presentation and rich gravy. Vegetables however are a bit of an afterthought generally, either slightly over, or under done, which docked a few points, but they had marvellous friendly service, and overall the food was definitely above average, good honest home cooked tucker. Worth travelling to for the view, a pint and a very satisfying meal.

Another enjoyable meal. We appreciate the consistency in quality and always friendly and welcoming. Locally sourced meat was of a high quality and there was a good choice on the menu.

An old friend and I met up for a reunion and couldn't have picked a better spot. The staff are friendly, professional and smart, the rooms are lovely and the food is beautiful good quality pub food (great breakfast too).

From the pub, there appears to be several circular walks to do. We went on one taking us to Eyam, had a pleasant couple of hours there then walked back to sit in front of the pub to enjoy a fantastic view and a well deserved cider.
