“difficult to prounounce for non welsh people”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

it catches your attention with the longest weird and quaint spelling/pronunciation of the name. the locals are very friendly immediately pronouncing the name as soon as it was asked in a lilting, singsong manner. it is situated in the picturesque welsh island of anglesey. Other than the name and it being another one of the cute welsh village it has nothing to offer, but worth a visit. it has a cute visitors shop.

“Long twister for most”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2013

This railways station is situated on the beautiful Welsh island of Anglesey, just a short drive over the bridge from the Welsh mainland. People never believe that there is a train station in Wales with such a long name so it is worth stopping off to take a picture to prove it. Funnily enough, one time when I was holidaying in Bali there was a mention of this station in the Jakarta Post. How is that for fame? People love hearing you say this name too so start practising.

“Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2013

The name translates as "St Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St Tysilio of the red cave".

Originally, the town was named Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll, meaning "The Mary church by the pool near the white hazels". The village was renamed at the beginning of the 1850s when the railway was built between Chester and Holyhead. Of interest is the "St Tysilio" part of the name, which refers to the church of St Tysilio's, in Menai Bridge. This was once a chapel of ease belonging to St Mary’s church ......lots of letters but there is a place with more letter ......hold on to your hat her is the "bad boy "

A hill in New Zealand has the 85-character name (derived from Maori) of Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu.

Anyone for a game of scrabble ?

“Quick quirky stop!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2013 via mobile

It's interesting to see the name written with the description underneath, and as its free to take pictures it's well worth a quick stop on your way onto something else.
