I was surprised to find the longest railway station name in the world was here. Because I, perhaps like a lot of people, didnt realise that Llanfairpwll actually represents it. It is only because I read the reviews here that I discovered it. Thank you tripadvisor people!

Anyway, given the massive visitors car and coach park the station itself is a major anti-climax. You literally just enter by a side gate (not even a ticket office), take your piccies and leave. I think the platform building itself was shut - an empt facade. I at least expected an on-platform cafe, or even a pub. But no - tourists are herded into gift mode in the James Pringle Weavers building nearby.

Could do a lot better by celebrating this talked about world famous station. There are far better steam railway station platform experiences around that LlanfairPG needs to wise up to. Unless you love your tacky tourist shops all you need is five minutes here to get your picture by the station sign - then leave. At least it is free.

A estação de Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch tem o nome mais comprido do Reino Unido e um dos mais longos de todo o mundo, com 58 letras. É uma palavra de origem galesa e em inglês significa "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Vale pela curiosidade.

“Excellent birthday destination!”

We just happened to be nearby, so I popped in to this place and got some nice photos. There's a gift shop there as well which sell traditional Welsh items, such as Scottish Shortbread and American Candy as well as shot glasses and clothes.

“A fun stop”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

We could not tour this beautiful island without stopping by this notable landmark - our 7 year old would never have forgiven us! He was particularly pleased to see the line is use with a train on its merry way to Holyhead from Birmingham. What I liked most was (of course) the shopping/visitor centre located next door - a very canny way of earning some tourist money - but with the prices so low for most things, it was impossible to resist not buying some form of memento! Whatever you're looking for as a souvenir, you'll probably find it there.
