We had a wonderful 10 day stay at La Pillette. Thank you Neil and Sally for your generous but unobtrusive hospitality. The gite is abundantly well equipped, and if something is lacking, Neil and Sally are nearby to help. We spent a lot of time sitting on the patio, enjoying the local Camembert and a glass of cider in the warm evening sunshine! Although in a rural setting, the A28 and the pretty town of Orbec are both within easy reach. We particularly enjoyed visits to Lisieux, Bernay, Brionne, Vimoutiers, Livarot, Camembert and Honfleur.
We really enjoyed the gite and were welcomed by the hosts and a welcome package of cider and cheese.
The gite has everything you need and the garden was great. Our 2.4 year old daughter loved hide and seek around the garden, feeding the donkeys and the play house which had plenty of toys to keep her entertained. The gite was very quiet and peaceful and the towns of Bernay, Orbec and Lisieux were only a short distance. There is a Carreforre close in Orbec and plenty of restaurants in the bigger town of Bernay. If you have small kids, the local animal shelter was great to go around, it was suprisngly bigger than expected with some animals even I hadn’t seen before. It was the perfect spot to visit other attractions, we didn’t get a chance to do half the stuff that was on offer. We did a trip to Deuville which had fantastic beaches and a few celebrities. The weather wasn’t fantastic, but that didn’t dull our holiday. Neil and Sally were always there if we needed anything and were lovely people with a really lovely place. We highly recommend staying here if you want some peace and quiet, but also if you want to see a lot of attractions that aren’t too far away. Thank you Neil and Sally.
What a wonderful place! Quiet, cosy and a perfectly equipped gite!!!! Neil and Sally couldn't have been kinder if they tried. Such helpful suggestions of places to visit too. The children loved the 'play house' with all the extra fun thrown in. Can't recommend this enough! Will definitely be going back!
Tucked away near the small village of Capelle-Les-Grandes this delightful gite is well equipped, beautifully clean and very comfortable. The owners Sally and Neil are wonderfully kind and helpful hosts who welcome you with some lovely french cheese and wine to start your stay in the best possible way. Lots of places to visit within one or two hours of the gite. We visited, amongst others, Givernay, Chateau Galliard at Les Andeleys, Aromanches and Bayeaux - we can thoroughly recommend all of these. We would not hesitate to re-book with Neil and Sally again as it is such a perfect place to stay and cannot recommend it enough. Also our two little cairn terrier dogs loved the garden, it was so nice to find a pet-friendly holiday gite that welcomed our two so much.
Just back from a fabulous stay at La Pilette Gite. The cottage really is a home from home and has everything you could need during your stay. The kitchen is well-equipped and a washing machine is available. It's perfect for families; the weather was lovely during our stay, but in the case of wet weather there is a well-equipped playroom for the children and an extensive offering of books for the adults. The cottage is very private and secluded but the hosts are on hand should you need anything at all. A few minutes in the car to Orbec for our morning croissant runs and supermarket trips. Less than an hour to the Normandy beaches and museums. We also enjoyed days out at the fishing village of Honfleur, and at the races in Deauville. It's the perfect base to explore all that Normandy has on offer - we would absolutely recommend a stay at La Pilette.
Our stay was perfect! A beautiful little gite in beautiful surroundings. The cottage is positioned within easy reach of everywhere we wanted to go. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need and was extremely comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!
Thank you Neil & Sally!
We went on a Boxing Day for a week with our little cockapoo, two girls under 10 to spend time our relatives nearby. The cottage had everything we needed with extra heaters, wifi, dvds, English tv, and lots of books. One day, we decided to have a day in making a gingerbread house where Sally provided with we could possibly need, even chocolate drops and silver sugar pearls! It is situated in a quiet and also unpolluted with lights, which meant the stars were stunning every night. You feel completely alone, but if you need help, Sally and Neil are there! Can't be more perfect.
We loved our stay and definitely recommend the cottage. Ooh, and there is toy shed right outside and also an easy drive to shops as well and a vet!
