We visited the distillery in June and went for the tour which was very interesting since the tour guide went into detail of how the whiskey is made, the history of the distillery and its founder and the process of changing the casks and the end result as in for taste, colour etc.

I suggest visitors to try the Whiskey Ice Cream that can be purchased from the Cafeteria.

We were with visiting friends who were keen to visit this particular distillery. We travelled up from Aboyne and arrived just in time for the next tour, which was, we were pleasantly surprised to find free!!
A delightful young lady took us round and explained what it took to make whisky, and although we have visited other distilleries in the past, we thought that she did by far the best job.
It would have been nice to visit the original buildings, but we were very impressed with how the modern building looked.
We all enjoyed the free sampling of the 18 year old whisky, had a lovely lunch in the cafe and made purchases in the well stocked shop.
We thought that all the staff that we met were very pleasant and an asset to the business.
Its well worth a visit.

I visited in July 2014. The staff were very friendly and extremly knowledgeable. A tour round the giant stills was very impressive with everything in immaculate condition. The tasting of the whisky at the end of the tour was a highlight. There was a good shop stocked with interesting whisky related products. The setting of the distillery within the Glenlivet estate can't be beaten with great walking, mountian biking, views and picnic spots.

We visited The Glenlivet Distillery with 6 adults, one being my 85-year-old mom. She and I stayed in the lovely Visitors Center while the rest of the group did the 3-hour "Spirit of the Malt" Tour. We were very comfortable in the lobby sofas (free wi-fi) and then moved to the cafe for a snack. All employees were quite friendly and accommodating. When our touring members returned, they absolutely RAVED about the tour and their guide, Rory. The loved the tasting - being treated to a 70-year-old Scotch that can't even be purchased was their highlight - and the knowledge that Rory imparted, his having literally grown up in a distillery and being raised by a "Master Distiller." Overall, a lovely morning was enjoyed by all. Tasting tours are available to over-18s only, I believe. The cost was 30 GPB per but there is a shorter, free tour available as well.
