We stayed at Elements for 4 days in March 2014 in a 'deluxe apartment'. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The resort is located in a picturesque secluded part of Ko Samui, far away from the more chaotic towns. However, we found the local villages very accessible by bicycle (provided free by the resort) and by motorbike (also available at the resort).

We especially liked the pool; the decor; and the attention to detail. The breakfast (included in our rate) was excellent. We loved the staff who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was very big with a balcony looking out to sea. Very comfortable!

An excellent all round stay. We thoroughly recommend Elements if you are looking for a relaxed, tranquil resort on Ko Samui.

We booked this hotel for 7 days as the last part of our honeymoon around Thailand. We were given a tour of the property upon arrival, but since our room wasn't ready, I had to do the tour with my heavy carry-on, since I didn't want to leave the valuables in it unattended in the lobby.

The resort itself is just ok, some areas are newer and nice (for example the spa) and some ground areas need a bit of updates. My husband and I had a traditional Thai massage at the spa and it was one of the highlights of our experience. We also did a recommended half day boat tour, which takes you snorkeling and a picnic lunch. That was a very good and I would highly recommend it.

Now on to the negatives, the housekeeping staff is inconsistent, sometimes there are not enough towels and we had to call for 2 more, sometimes our things would be folded and moved, and other times they were left as is. We didn't have hot water 4 out of 7 days. Everyday we had to call the engineer, and everyday the recommendation was to let it run 10-15 minutes to get hot water, which didn't help. I think the water heater couldn't handle the demand of everyone using the hot water around the same time. Wifi in our room stopped working, we had to call the engineer again to replace the router. The door was slightly slanted, and the lock would never line up, so we had trouble using the key card, it wouldn't read properly.

The pool is a disaster, there are no towels available, ever. Each time I had to walk over to the spa, wait and bring back towels for myself and my husband. Next day was the same story. In addition, there are no handrails to walk down into the pool. This is extremely unsafe. I have excellent balance and I almost slipped a few times. I saw multiple older people have a lot of difficulties getting in and out of the pool. Also, to get service at the pool was nearly impossible, you basically have to go to the restaurant to get your own drinks and refills. Not very relaxing.

Lastly, this resort is located in a bay and has no direct access to the ocean. The water level is low, the water color is brown and uninviting. The sand is full garbage, empty bottles and litter. Even the low tide explanation is not enough to excuse the overall state of the beach. We had to scooter our way to Chaweng beach or Lamai beach every day because ours was just sad.

Hello
Thank you for taking the time to write this review your comments are well received though it is difficult to respond as this review is based on a year ago. I am sorry you appear to have had these difficulties and that it spoiled your stay. I can assure you all points you have raised are in my opinion certainly not the case now.

Re the Ocean. Pang ka is a bay that is for want of a better word a sea bay , for a few months a year the tide is very low during the day and the right side of the bay is sand only during that time. However at night the tide then comes in. This is a bay to the sea albeit shallow for some periods. This is why we have sea views.phots of the bay year round in its different looks are on our facebook site. I am sorry you did not like it

Again thank you for your review

Best regards

Stephen

A truly fantastic place. Calm, peaceful and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Situated on a quiet beach with working long boats a short distance away. The long tailed boat trip is well worth taking, a delicious lunch is provided, which we ate after snorkelling and sat on a clean white sandy beach. We would go back to Elements again for the relaxation. We had a lovely room with a view down to the sea. Our room had a lovely long bathtub, which was the right length for me, being tall! We all used the Spa which was very relaxing. The Thai food served in the restaurant was excellent and we all enjoyed the entertainment put on in the evenings. We took bikes out one afternoon and we saw the local Thai people at work in their villages and gave us a chance to see the local area, but mainly, we relaxed at the poolside.

Me and my lady went there for one week. Loved the quietness of the place. Part of the hotel rooms have an own pool! Fantastic! Staff was very nice and polite. If u wanted something, they arranged it. Morning breakfast was one the highlights in our trip in Thailand! The owner, Stephen, what a guy! Definetely might go there again. Not too many restaurants and shops nearby, but very easy to rent a scooter or a car. No tourism in the near area, so that´s why we liked the place even more! Thank you a lot!

We did not want to leave here and I would recommend staying 5 days minimum as 3 days was not enough, very relaxing with a great restaurant and very friendly staff, only thing missing in our room was a bathtub, would have been handy after a day of adventuring around the island. Great pool and the option of having a table and shade set up on the private beach for a great dining experience watching the sun going down. We took an optional spa treatment and it was very relaxing, book one for your last day would be the way to go. Overall a great experience

Thanks to Stephen and his super team for the most relaxing and restful break I have enjoyed in years.
Stunning beach location with views of the five islands opposite.
Peaceful blissful sanctuary from the real world.
The staff are so helpful and engaging.
Food very good especially in Bamboo restaurant next door for great Thai food.
Good selection of Thailand wines that were all excellent.
Always have bicycles available if you want to venture out of the resort to check out the local area of fishing villages.

My husband and I visited Elements at the end of a very busy 2 weeks throughout Thailand. This beautifully quiet and clean and updated boutique hotel was just perfect for the end of our trip. All of the staff worked hard and efficiently to make our stay a memorable one. Everyone is always smiling which feels wonderful! The whole place just has such a peaceful feel everywhere you go, or maybe it was the yoga and meditation classes!! We totally relaxed and also got the best massages in the spa! This is the place for you if you enjoy great service, food, and privacy. Stephen, the owner, is exceptional. He is committed to making sure everyone is treated beyond well. We feel like we made friends in our short time there, so hope we can return soon!! Thank you! M&M

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Elements boutique resort and spa hide-away - our small, secluded, privately owned and run resort where we always put you first. You worked hard for this holiday. Let us help you enjoy it. Visit the real Samui. Elements hide-away is nestled in a lovely, isolated, nature marine reserve in the secluded virgin coast on the south west of the island of Koh Samui. Our low rise resort blends naturally into the native environment. Uninterrupted views of the tidal lagoon melt seamlessly with our infinity pool and beach area. But be warned, if you read our very worst Trip Advisor reviews you will quickly see that we have some faults. Apart from the weather which affects the whole of Asia! There are no huge shopping malls just around the corner, just as there are no loud disco nor karaoke bars. There are no jet skis or speed boats buzzing the beach, just the sound of the birds on the wind. There are no beach vendors selling you unwanted trinkets and beads. Only our staff offering chilled refreshments when you call. A book being dropped onto the sand or the trade winds beating up the coconut fronds may be the loudest thing you hear all day. The health (wellness) is addictive and so is the spa. The location is too romantic and the food is to die for. The staff smile too much and you may be seduced into doing less for longer time periods each day. A pampering experience of body massage and beauty treatments awaits at the spa. Guests may also look forward to enjoying the well-equipped fitness centre, free use of mountain bikes and free use of kayaks. The hotel offers free meditation classes and morning yoga lessons most days of the week. Only the finest ingredients are used to prepare the delicious Thai cuisine served at Bamboo Beach Cafe, while Mediterranean and other Asian favourites as well a wide selection of skilfully prepared cocktails can be enjoyed at Fai Dining. So come and join us and be in your Element. ... more   less
