Reviewed 29 August 2013

My husband and I got married at Kanok Buri resort in July 2009! What a picture perfect place! It was everything and more. The rooms were beautiful, airy, big and super comfortable! We stayed in the pool villa closest to the beach. It was perfect in every way! The staff are amazing and cater to your very need! The food and drinks at the restaurant are just Devine! We truly could not fault the place! The lovely lady named "Gift" who corresponded by emails for our wedding was amazing! Great English and answered all of our questions and queries. Will definitely be back for a visit!!

Room Tip: Pool villa closest to the beach is lovely!!

Arrived for a long weekend on an early flight from Singapore and rooms were not ready, however we were able to get food in the pleasant restaurant located right on the beach.
Overall the resort consists of two parts, smaller rooms and some villas on the beach side of the road and self contained larger villas with private pool across the road. Neither are far from the quiet and pretty beach.
In terms of facilities and services - food was average, the pad thai was extremely disappointing. The spa provides a range of treatments and I had a very good hour long oll massage (not Thai). The gym is small and the equipment old. The staff were friendly but english was not widely or well spoken.
Think that the resort offered good value for money as the rooms were spacious and clean, but don't expect luxury that is delivered elsewhere. It was quiet and relaxing for our few days there.

On arrival for a 14 night stay we were met with not what was advertised, the hotel was tired and run down and villa was not in the location as advertised. However the staffs were amazing, food was great and very good value for money, the beach was awesome and clean. This hotel has great potential just needs a little TLC. Stayed two nights before finding another resort to move to. If you want to relax and chill this resort is in the best location but in my opinion it is way overpriced in its current state.

We went to the Kanok Buri resort for five days as friends of ours were getting married in a villa near by. We booked the villa rooms across the road from the hotel and they were fabulous and very good value for money.

The hotel itself had a great restaurant, so good that whenever we didn't have plans related to our wedding we just ate there! I can highly recommend the phad thai! The drinks were also very reasonably priced.

The most impressive element of this hotel is the staff. They were very helpful, particularly when we arrived without our luggage. They spent eight hours trying to track down where it was which meant we could go and enjoy our holiday. They also booked several trips for us and then when we went to pay, showed us that they had got us a discount. We were very impressed and hope to come back again soon!

Room Tip: The villas across the road from the hotel are quieter and more private.

Stayed here for 10 nights from the 21st of Jan. I got a really good deal on a deluxe Jacuzzi room, when we got there we were upgraded to a private pool villa which was a massive difference in price so we started off on a good note! It is by far the nicest beach on the island, and away from all the louts and dodgy people in Chaweng. I would highly recommend staying there to anyone visiting Koh Samui. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite especially joom on reception. The breakfast was decent, and right on the beach which was nice. The rooms were clean, and the bed was comfy. I've noticed some of the previous reviews being a bit negative.. what you have to remember is some people are just snobs, don't be put off we loved it and will 110% be going back again! Nikki Beach is right next door, and always nice to visit for happy hour at 4pm or Sunday brunch. The only thing the hotel needs to sort out is the fitness room, the equipment doesn't really work properly. For me I didn't care as I had no intention of using it, but for any fitness freaks out there you might be slightly disappointed. The only disappointing aspect of the trip for me was leaving!

Room Tip: Private pool villa is amazing!

We had honeymoon trip to Thailand last year and what happened to us in this hotel ruined everything. We had private pool Villa and hotel was almost empty, which was pretty nice for us. But everyday, there were staff members passing our Villa several times and chambermaids coming to room more than just once. I still dont know why actually.
But the worst that happened was last three days, where we realized that our money was stolen from our luggage. We had it there since we wanted to pay some activities at the island that were more expensive and money should be there for one night, we would use it next day in the afternoon.
What happened was that staff (aparently staff, since we were always locking our Villa) took the money, 100dollar bills and gave back 5dollar bills, in the same way, that we placed our money. Rolled in a small roll. In the time that money was in our luggage, at the bottom, well hidden!, our room was already cleaned from morning time and no one should come to our room. And we just went out for dinner.
We were shocked as hell.
After we reported stealing to reception they were rude, not interested but at least they called police after we demand it a couple of times.
We demanded to speak to General Manager or at least not only with receptionists but in two days, we did not get anything from them, but the answer that GM is not available...
We had to report at Police office, but all that happend was, that we had to wait there for couple of hours, but they never did anything. They just spoke with receptionist and one cleaning lady, but offcourse nothing came out.

Hotel offered to pay us dinner in their restaurant, but they wanted to charge for drinks.

We would never recomend this hotel to anyone, if you are looking for hotel with great postion, there are many on Koh Samui, so this one is really not the only option.

It is you choice, but our honeymoon finished really sad because of that.
We went straight home, instead of continue vacation for another week.

Well if staff did not steal our money, I am questioning myself to whom they are giving keys also.

Room Tip: Rather find another location, I rated everything with one star since nothing can repair what happene...

If you're looking for a quiet & tranquil place for some peace & quiet, for that private family vacation or for an intimate getaway for two, then this might just be the place for you.

Kanok Buri is a short 15min drive south of Nathon Pier, or 5mins north of the Raja Ferry Pier, on Lipa Noi beach.

The beach itself is great. Pretty much private to the hotel with great sand and just enough palm trees for a little shade. It's a little small and you may need to compete for choice beach loungers with the other hotel guests at peak hours but you definitely won't need to share it with 300 other people (or dogs, like at Chaweng beach). The sunset from this beach is unparalleled.

We booked the private pool villa, which was just perfect for me & my partner. We loved the luxury of having our own private pool to dip in (comes with jacuzzi jets!) and the privacy of an all-enclosing compound. Privacy might be a little compromised if you happen to have very tall neighbours, but we loved it.

The room was spacious, the bathroom even more so (with a huge tub and rainshower). The hotel thoughtfully provided beach towels for us as well as a woven-reed bags for us to take items to the beach.

The resort is separated by a small road, which we had to cross each time we wanted to go to the beach, get breakfast, swim at the general pool, or borrow a book/DVD from the free library at the lobby. This was not a problem for us at all, really, but would be a concern for families with small children or elderly members, as while not really busy, vehicles did tend to pass at quite fast speeds.

One issue with the relative isolation of Lipa Noi is that most of the nightlife & lively bits of Koh Samui lie exactly on the other side of the island (which is at least a 30min drive). The partner & I rented a scooter to explore the island (but, in retrospect, a car might've been a lot more comfortable.)

Great stay, would definitely consider it again!
