This is a perfect BandB in a very interesting Derbyshire village, with beautiful scenery and interesting things to do on the doorstep. Jean is dedicated to making your stay as enjoyable as possible. The farm itself is a historic building, jean's cooking is amazing, and it is quiet and comfortable. jean herself seems quiet and unassuming, but she is a lady with a lot of experience and understanding of life. She really likes to make her guests happy.

Room Tip: she has a range of accommodation. her evening meals are excellent.

I was initially put off by the cheap price but having read reviews on Tripadvisor, decided to book. I'm very glad I did.

We stayed at the self-catering accommodation and it was excellent. We were welcomed with home made cake and bread and a warm cottage. It was fully equipped with kitchen items, towels etc and is very spacious, clean and homely.

Please bear in mind there are no shops or places to eat in the village but everything is within a short driving distance. The village is very quiet which was perfect for us :-)

We will definitely be returning!

We only stayed for one night, but will definitely go back (sooner rather than later I hope). Jean was very welcoming, and the guest house was lovely. There are only 2 rooms, but they also have a self catering cottage which they let our friends use as a B&B for the night, as there were 3 couples. There is a residents lounge (with homemade millionaires shortbread - delicious), and every attention to detail has been thought of in both the lounge and bedrooms (ladies - there is an hairdryer). The breakfast was lovely and there is a good choice from fruit salad to a full English. Sadly it was raining when we visited, but we hopefully we will be back when the sun is shining, as the area is beautiful, even in the rain.

We stayed here for one night, and were made to feel very welcome.

I paid up front; the room was big with generous bed and ensuite - just what we needed as we'd been to a wedding and needed a place to crash.

Had we needed it there was a fully equipped lounge downstairs - TV/entertainment; food/drink - plenty if you wanted it, and the chance to be private in 2 rooms i.e. not just the bed room.

Mrs Carson was very welcoming and helpful - overall a very positive experience. Access was uncomplicated - we were given keys; there was ample parking.

One criticism only - the sausages with the breakfast were slightly under par - everything else was right on.

Cannot complain - it was good value for the money (high season booked last minute was £50 for 2 adults in the king size bedroom as at mid August 2013).

We would stay there again gladly.

Room Tip: Beautiful views and location. Inexpensive and good value yet generously catered. Very private.

We were welcomed with a lovely pot of hot tea and scones which we hadn't expected. Jean was very accommodating even though we arrived very late. Everything has been thoughtfully laid out: extra heaters, hot water bottles and plenty of biscuits and snacks for consumption. In addition to our rooms she provided a private living room for our use. Breakfast was amazing and in generous portions. Everything was absolutely delicious that we didn't have lunch. We will definitely want to make a trip back!

I have been staying with jean and alan since my son was 12...hes now 21!! I was so desparate for a break on abudget and one that was cosy, welcoming, with good food, including evening meal, as i didnt want to have to go out at night and a place that would take my beloved dog......well i found all this and more at jeans.
after a longish drive and a young child who was chomping to get out of the car!! we arrived at jean and alans lovely farmhouse b&b.
jean welcomed us with a lovely pot of tea and homemade cake, in the sitting room which was only for our use, cosy, with tv,dvd player, comfy sofas, tea and coffee, hot choc, bowl of choccy biscuits...kitkat etc,and a bowl of fruit.the room was just like home from home.
games and lots of books to read.
our room was also lovely, we had the double room with the bath and jean had put a single bed up for my son.the room was spotless as is all the house. a hairdryer in the room,as well as tea and coffee, hot choc and a selection of wrapped biscuits..perfect.
jean also now has another huge bedroom with a queen size bed ,which can be split into twins, this room has a shower and loo ensuite.
evening meals are 2 courses and a glass of wine, both of which are huge,so if you have a big appetite or just want to enjoy the most of good homecooking, jeans food will sustain!!
for breakfast you just write on the form provided what you would like and jean will do her utmost to provide.....superb cooked breakfasts ,plenty of choice of cereals, fresh brewed coffee and tea.this b&b is wonderful, just like jean!!
