This farm house at the top of a road among some beautiful vineyards is as welcoming and lovely as the pictures show. But Doreen made our visit special - from the moment she greeted us ( actually, even prior to that), we were at ease and knew that we needed more than the three days of our visit to enjoy the greatest wine region in the world. Her home is beautifully decorated and her breakfasts were fantastic, as well. She set up visits with local winemakers and turned us on to restaurants and places to visit we might easily have passed by. Though we threw her a bit of a curve prior to our arrival by adding an extra person to our reservation, Doreen graciously accommodated us. Looking at our pictures from that part of our trip brings back the morning sounds of the tractors working the grape rows down the valley and the breeze that came up the hill every afternoon. We stayed for three nights in early July, and given our jet lag and the early summer heat, it's hard to imagine we could have been more comfortable.
