Owner description: The remains on view at Caerleon provide the visitor with a vivid picture of life in second-century Roman Britain. Some 12 miles down the Roman road you will come across Venta Silurum, the first town in Wales and the tribal capital of the Silures. We call it Caerwent today. If you get a chance, pop down to see its surrounding walls and the remains of shops, a Romano-Celtic temple and the forum-basilica.

This is a lovely fortress. It's a good place for a picnic on a lovely sunny day and for kids to let off a lot of steam. It doesn't cost anything and is a good way of knowing about the Romans. There are the Roman baths, the museum and barracks within walking distance. Worth a visit to all of them.

A remarkable remains of one of Britain's Roman Fortress's. Well worth a viewing with children, oldies etc. Picnic area, loads of parking nearby & well worth a visit for all the family. Nr to Caerleon village, plenty of pubs, eating out etc etc

The Roman Baths was quite the experience - and was very interactive for children and adults. Provided some unusual facts that are not well known for this area. Free. Highly recommend.

One of the finest examples of its kind & only 7 minutes from the M4
Well worth combining a visit here with one to the Roman Museum.
