This was our first visit and will not be our last, what a lovely atmosphere! Place was busy and had a good vibe, food was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff were very friendly and made everyone fell welcome and relaxed.

Room Tip: Be sure to book as it's always busy.

Having not used The Priory for a number of years, probably due to the distance from Cowbridge I am pleased to say it has not lost any of its charm. The welcome received was warming and the food excellent. We were looked after by a waiter called Lillo ? who's attitude to service was superb...

I stayed at the Priory Hotel for one night only, to pick up my son from university. The hotel is extremely atmospheric, with beautiful gardens and very well maintained. The bar area and restaurant are again, very nicely decorated in keeping with the hotels age and persona. The room I had was very good, with no complaints. In fact I ordered a single room and received a double(thank you). The breakfast was superb with a good choice and well presented. The reception staff were extremely helpful and check in/out easy and quick. The village of Caerleon is old and historic with Roman ruins, baths and amphitheatre and has plenty of small shops and pubs to stroll around on a hot day.

Me and my partner stayed here friday night as a treat. Was beautifull. We expected to pay through the roof for things but wasnt too bad. Paid just £85 for a room which included breakfast (which was lovely).
We ate in the resturant friday evening eating starters and steak. Only thing that baffled me was having to pay extra for some bread as i had the soup. My partner didnt like ordering off black boards instead of a menu as he felt rushed to order as there was a queue but there was a lovely selection and you get to see the food yourself before it gets cooked.
The room was lovely and clean and a decent size. Had a hair dryer in the draw and a fan in the wardrobe which was great as it was very warm that night.
We also took a walk around the town and surrounding area. Lots to do and see.
Would stay again and would reccomend to a friend.

Went here for dinner recently to celebrate a birthday and had a very bad experience.
We arrived at 7pm and told they needed our table back by 9.30pm, so we made sure we ordered very quickly.
Halfway through eating our starters our main course arrived. We said we were not ready, the food was still left.
Our plates were taken before we even finished our meals, with my sister chasing her plate to get it back! One of us opted for a dessert, and while we were eating, two members of staff were literally stood over our table waiting for us to leave. At 8.50pm we gave up. The intimidation was horrendous, and we opted to leave and go elsewhere.
The food was delicious, and the service from the bar was excellent, but the service while in the restaurant was horrendous. It's not the cheapest place to eat, and the service ruined what should have been a celebration.

Four of us stayed here last Friday night to celebrate my birthday. We booked two delux rooms overlooking the gardens. The rooms were lovely and clean. We had a few drinks in the village and returned to dine at 8pm. The display counter with the raw meats and fish is superb - loved picking my own crevettes and lamb. Two of us had the whitebait which I tried and was very tasty with the home made tartar sauce and I believe the scallops were good too. One venison, one steak, one specials pork dish and my lamb noisettes were all enjoyed. Veggies are extra. Two bottles of Malbec and other drinks and the bill came to just over £200, a bit steep but very enjoyable.

I started to use the Priory following increasing frustration and disatisfaction with major chain hotels in the Newport area. Best thing I ever did. There are a range of room styles available, and if you are staying regularly, it is possible to keep the same room - more like a second home is how it became for me. The food quality is superb, it would not be out of place in a 5 star hotel and the service that goes with it is really good, that blend of attentiveness combined with being unobtrusive that so many places fail to get right. Should I need to stay in the area again, I know where I will be staying.

Room Tip: When you call the receptionist to book a room, tell them what you prefer as there are a range of roo...
