5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

We stayed at Casa Giumentina bed and breakfast and will go back again !! Ezio and Marieangela are the perfect hosts and have the best bed and breakfast ! If you want to see the real Italy visit the Abruzzi region and if you want to stay at the best Bed and Breakfast stay at the Casa Giumentina. We stayed for the festivals in Abbataggio and San Valentino the location was perfect to both towns. I cannot stop talking about the region ... the festivals.... the hosts to Casa Giumentina (Mariangela and Ezio ) Abbruzzese sono forte and gentile !!!

We stayed in Casa Giumentina for 3 nights at the beginning of October and had a lovely relaxing break. Ezio and Marieangela looked after us very well. The place has been restored with great care and attention. The views of the mountains were amazing from our room and the terrace. The surrounding countryside is very beautifulI with lots of interesting walks in the area. In the evenings, we walked to local restaurants for home made pasta and the meals were very good value. On our last night, Ezio and Marieangela invited us for canapes in the downstairs guest kitchen, where they provided local specialities - food and wine. We had a lovely evening with our kind hosts. We can recommend Casa Giumentina highly and hope to visit again one day.

We stayed in Casa Giumentina for 10 days in July 2011 with 5 people. If we say this is the best B&B we have ever stayed (and we do this already more than 10 years) it is an understatement. The house is perfect in its smallest details, newly built with the old materials and following the traditional way. The environment is so quiet at the foot of the national park without any other houses and the most splendid view you can dream from the bedroom balcony. The host Mariangela and Ezio are too kind. They treat yo as family, the rooms are perfectly clean always, they show you all the nice places and even go with you if they have time. And on a special occasion, Enzio will even play his guitar and sing...
Every morning we had the best breakfast on the terrace in the sun. Finding a place to eat at night is also quiet easy, within 5min drive you find several typical Italian restaurants where they serve the traditional kitchen with good quality food for a very decent price.

Do not expect too much tourist over there but instead you find the Abruzzo nature in all its glory, very kind local Italian people who are always there to help or show you the way and the most wonderful hosts.
The most difficult part of this vacation is to get used to 'the normal life home' when you get back, so be prepared...
Thanks again for this wonderful Italian experience Mariangela and Ezio,
from Anja, Annick, Myrèse, Stefan and Kurt

PS we come from the North part of Belgium and speak Dutch, but to share our experience with a broader audience we hare written this in English.

We visited this B & B with family, some of whom had been before. They told us it was fantastic, but that was an understatement. The farmhouse has been lovingly restored with no expense spared, and so in keeping with the natural beauty of the area. The little details to the decor are a delight, and the cleanliness, comfort, food and service are second to none.
Mariangela and Ezio are extremely friendly and helpful hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them. It is obvious this is not just a business to them, but something they have a passion and an obvious love for.
There is much to explore in the locality, and Mariangela and Ezio are more then happy to arrange and accompany you on excursions. But with the setting of the farmhouse, the amazing views from the terrace and grounds, and the walks from the doorstep up into the mountains or into the pretty traditional village of Abbateggio, you really don't need to venture far if you don't want to.

Room Tip: All the rooms are brilliant with, but the upstairs rooms have little balconies with amazing views ov...

Outstanding en-suite rooms with shared kitchen. Comfy beds, traditional restored stone barn, so many extras from fruit to cold drinks in fridge. Views stretch for miles; of mountains, flowers and Majella park. Outside space for sitting and eating meals in sun or shade. Owners ready to help with places to go, places to eat

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms get a juliet style balcony

Casa Giumentina is stunningly lovely - the location is amazing, with amazing views across the valley from its gardens and balconies; the rooms are a truly harmonious blend of traditional and modern; and the care, cleanliness and service is of of the very highest standard.

Mariangela & Ezio are charming hosts who really make every effort to make their guests feel welcome and the breakfasts are really good! Little could beat Mariangela's wonderful home-made cakes.

Highly recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and wish it could have been longer. The hosts, Mariangela and Ezio, are exceptionally caring and hospitable, and go above and beyond any expectations a guest may have! The accommodation has been beautifully renovated- almost rebuilt, and is spacious and very comfortable. Our bed was extremely comfortable, and our ensuite bathroom quite large and modern. Everything was wonderfully clean, and to a high standard.
There was a large bowl of fruit in the kitchen just for us! There are 2 ground floor ensuite rooms which share this kitchen, (and 2 more rooms upstairs, plus another kitchen which we did not see) The kitchen had a modern washing machine for a small fee, which was so unusual in our European travels, and very useful!
Breakfast was very good, and included cake, toast, juices, yogurt, cereal, and fruit. We enjoyed breakfast outside one morning.
The views are exceptional, green meadows, and distant villages, with snow capped mountains in the distance. The area is very quiet and restful. There are walking or hiking opportunites. This is a must see area within the Majella National Park which has not yet reached the tourist market.
Ezio very kindly met us on our arrival at the rail station in Pescara, and drove us the half hour journey (at very fast speed!) to the accommodation. Mariangela drove us to a more local station when we departed, still a 15 minute drive at comfortable speed. They gave us dinner and wine when the local restaurants were closed (out of season) and refused any payment for this. The second evening they drove us around to show us a local village (where they live in winter) and church, and to seek out an open restaurant for us. Amazing! .. what more could anyone want!! The price per night was also very reasonable. This was a memorable experience, and one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed at, and we have stayed at many.
