A really nice hotel with comfortable rooms. The facilities are lovely, i.e. swimming pool, sauna and steam room. As we were too early for check in we were able to go for a swim. Just over the road from the hotel is a retail park and round the corner is a lovely pub which is reasonably priced and had a really nice atmosphere. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and hot.

I have been staying in the Village for the last four years with my job and find it represents excellent value for money. The staff are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. During the period of my stays the quality if the food in the restaurant has improved. I very often want to do a bit of mixing and matching from the menu and it is never too much trouble. They make a mean mixed salad with hot chicken.

Four of us stayed for a long weekend and have never felt so welcomed and relaxed in an English hotel. Without exception the staff were efficient, friendly, polite and helpful. Spacious rooms, marvellous pool and leisure centre. Lively bar and popular cofffee house. Only drawback no leeway for late risers. If you arrive for breakfast with five minutes to spare you will find everything cleared away on the dot

Having used the "Village" brand with work in Walsall, I was shocked to read the indifferent reviews about Nottingham - however we booked as there was a great B&B deal.

On arrival booking in was easy, and a room account easily opened, and a table booked for dinner that evening - we were warned about how busy they get a breakfast time at weekends.

The room was tidy, neat and met expectation, Dinner was GREAT, and the only issue with breakfast was it was about 8.04am before they opened the doors. Breakfast itself was good value for money.

My only feedback is, if the hotel is aware of issues with breakfasts at the weekend, why not start serving from 7am to relieve the pressure!!

Overall very happy!

Visited the Sunday Carvery Restaurant with my family after a day out at Attenborough Wild Life Centre and was extremely disappointed with service and food. On previous occasions we have used the Carvery it has been excellent, but this Sunday it was terrible. Arrived for the 5 p.m. sitting had to wait for a table to be set and cleaned, then visited the starter section only to find the salads and soup in short supply and not replenished. Worse was to come when we went to the Carvery there was no chef on hand to carve the remnants of the Sunday joints. We waited and waited, we asked a waitress to ask for the chef to come and serve us, she came back and said he would be with us in a minute, we still waited, the waitress returned after clearing a table still no carver, waitress came out and we asked for the Manageress, who promptly came and saw what was available on the Carvery table and immediately apologised for the sight of the dried up vegetables and unappetising meat selection.
I was given a complaint form to complete which was filled in, I offered to pay for the drinks but this was not accepted when I presented the filled in complaints form to the Manageress.
I regularly stay at De Vere hotels but if this new acquisition [Village Hotels] is an example of service and lower standards I will be looking elsewhere to stay.

Basic hotel these days that has certainly dropped in the ratings as I have stayed here many times over the last 10 years or so.
It was 2 years since we last visited nottingham and the level of service has dropped, no manager or supervisor in sight, reception was friendly, room was ok but walls were marked, only shower gel and soap dispensers in the bathrooms so corners are being cut.
Worst was breakfast, advised to go down early so we did, but not everything had been fully set up for cold breakfast and the bacon ran out on the hot buffet, despite asking a member of staff to ask them to bring some fresh out nothing happened for over 10 minutes until the person who was on that station returned and realised dishes needed to be replenished, which he did.
But why was it left to him, surely the guests come first and the staff work as a team, well not on this Sunday morning.
final point lots of corridor noise and noise from other rooms. One sleepless night
