My partner and I stayed at this hotel for one night, the restaurant was lovely and the staff were excellent. The dask staff were friendly. Our room was suitable for one evening and a decent size.

Room Tip: Go for the bigger room if you want the space

I stayed at this hotel when traveling with work. I stayed for two nights and couldn't wait to leave. The hotel was dirty throughout including my room which had old stained letters welcoming you to the hotel so I knew it was going to be bad from the moment arrived. I will say that the staff were pleasant throughout my stay and were happy to change glasses, plates etc when I sent them back for not being clean but of course this should never have been the case.

The hotel has the atmosphere of a sports/health club. Room was rather dirty, looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Apart from that room was ok, good bed. My room overlooked the inner part of the hotel, not pretty but quiet.
Don't know what it is in the UK, but where in most European countries middle class stands for "everything ok" in the UK in my experience it stands for "without character and little wornout".

Having stayed in many Village hotels we decided to take another three day break deal with cheap room and free dinner on first night.

Hotel looked inviting and modern from the outside, but once in the room it was clear that it was an old hotel in need of a refurb. The room was adequate but the bathroom was dirty with mould and black grubby marks on the shower door seal and tiles etc. There was rust marks on the fittings, and the floor was dirty with hairs. We then noticed that it was red hot on what was an average day and opened the windows to find the loud hum what we can only assume to be the pool plant. After one night with no sleep and waking to find a stench of dampness in the room we asked to upgrade to a room with AC or just move. This is when we found that the hotel has no AC....

We later moved to another room which was much cleaner and had a desk fan. Unfortunately as mentioned by another reviewer, there were just soap dispensers in the room, one which was broken and one that was empty. After bringing this to the attention of reception, after five hours nothing had been done, and the next day we left a note by the dispenser for the maids. When we come back that evening the note was still there and the dispensers the same.... broken and empty....

On a positive note the food was acceptable, albeit a little expensive for what otherwise seems like a budget hotel. A real dissapointment and could not wait to get home (to sleep in normal temperature conditions....)

After having a lovely stay at the Village hotel near Chester in april, we were looking forwards to a similar stay here, however this stay couldn't be futher from it.
For the good things first on arrival check in was quick, arrived at our room where there was no towels or toilet roll, called reception housekeeping came up straight away, room was clean. Breakfast was good considering the cheap price for the room.
However this is where the good things end. We had a room on the top floor facing the car park, there was no air conditioning so had to keep the windows open. This was a problem as under our window was the bar which had an outdoor seating area. People were talking and smoking until way past mid night Smoke could be smelt in our room.
On our first night there was a wedding reception at our hotel and for over an hour around 11pm children were running up and down the corridors screaming, this finally ended when a young girl lost her friends and was crying outside our door I had to go outside in my PJ's to find her friends for her. Opposite the hotel was a shopping area with a large car park. Here boy racers decided on both nights to see whose cars were the loudest and fastest. This wouldn't be a problem if there was air conitioning and we could shut the windows. Finally the doors of the room would only close if slammed. At first I thought the person in the next room had a heavy hand and on slamming the door the wall actually shook, then I realised you had to slam the door to get it to shut.
The stay was cheap considering it was Bed and Breakfast however I personally would spend abit more next time for a quieter, nicer hotel.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room at the rear of the building.

Without doubt these are the worst Village rooms we have stayed in. Dated furniture, badly cracked sink and chipped bath, badly marked wallpaper etc. We booked a double but were given a King size bed - which is two single beds pushed together with a single bedsheet which would normally be fine but as the room is designed as a twin the bedside lights were in the middle of the bed so everytime you got out of the bed you would hit the light. The leisure facilities are very good and well maintained.
The self service breakfast is standard in all Village hotels but after giving our room numbers we were not shown to a table and not offered tea or coffee as we had to serve ourselves. Will we have to take our own dirty plates back soon ?

A really nice hotel with comfortable rooms. The facilities are lovely, i.e. swimming pool, sauna and steam room. As we were too early for check in we were able to go for a swim. Just over the road from the hotel is a retail park and round the corner is a lovely pub which is reasonably priced and had a really nice atmosphere. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and hot.
