My sister and I stayed here for one night last week. We took our 2 grandsons with us and stayed in the family room, No.12. The Hotel is done to a very high standard standard, and the beds very comfortable. The only down side to the rooms, is there are no T.V's.
We ate at the hotel, too that night and had a lovely meal. Everyone in the snug made us feel so welcome and some of the men played Snooker or Pool whatever it is they have with our eldest grandson. He thought it was brilliant.
The situation of the hotel is excellent for anyone wishing to visit local attractions around Robin Hood country. We will stay there again without a doubt, it was a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Room No.12 family room can sleep up to 4 people and is a beautiful room.

Omg what a beautiful building it's been totally redecorated but still full of character in one of the rooms it's like going back in time love it . It was so cosy we sat in the snug with a big open fire enjoying a drink while our food was being prepared the pint of mixed I had and they wine was lovely
The restaurant was clean the two staff were nice and friendly but they didn't need any more staff food arrived on time and the food was nice if not just a tad cold .
The restaurant was nice and warm and loads of free parking outside
We will be back if not for a meal then for a drink
Lovely evening

We arrived here on a Saturday evening to find the place pretty much deserted of staff. There was nobody on reception so we rang the bell a couple of times and still nobody came. The only staff member then appeared and said he would be with us in a minute as he was also serving on the bar to the other few customers around.
We finally got to our room which was really small but clean and warm. It was only an observation but there are no TVs in the rooms.
There are two doorways into the bar/lounge area. One is normal height and the other one next to it is much lower. There were no warning signs and two members of our party (over 6ft) banged their heads on the door frames leaving quite nasty cuts. The staircase is also pokey so watch your head there too.
Breakfast the next morning was slow. There was only one woman serving and the breakfast bar was not well stocked.
We ordered cooked breakfast and were asked how we wanted it. We each gave our preferences but when the breakfasts arrived they were all the same including each of the items we had asked not to have, waste of time in asking.
The £70 we were charged is over priced for the size of room and lack of staff to run the place. The hotel served its purpose for our visit to a family party at a nearby pub.

This hotel found our full support. Spacious, elegant, sound and a generous hosts. Room perfect, Bar/dining too, food classic british pub food, breakfast ample and pleasant. Good price/value ratio. The hotel exists since two centuries and has been very pleasingly brought to modern times. I do hope to be in this place more and longer.

Room Tip: This is really a good find, a bit out of the main stream.

Stayed for one night while attending a wedding event at Rufford Mill (£6 taxi ride away). Lovely room, well decorated and good shower in en-suite, not TV in room but that was fine with us. Breakfast was comprehensive and enjoyable. Polite, helpful staff. Couldn't have wanted any more really!

Ok so no TV and while I was there the wifi did not work. However the single room was immaculate and a hot shower clean towels and up to date decor.
Breakfast was perfect. Reception could not have been more helpful. One to recommend.
