“Lovely place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

After a week at Sherwood Hideaway in a contemporary VIP lodge we are well rested. A beautiful location with a well finished furnishings. Very helpful staff and very clean. Some minor drawbacks the fridge is a little small but with shopping just over a mile away not the end of the world. There were a few repairs needed with the main one for us being the slats on the blinds not closing properly leaving the light streaming in at silly o'clock There are no power sockets in the second double and the wifi was uber slow but that was only an issue for our teenage daughter as we liked being cut off. I would've liked to have had the balcony/hot tub area with more privacy as it is overlooked by the next lodge. They have planted trees to solve this but it may be sometime before they are effective. None of this detracted from our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Upon arriving at the hideaway we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who showed us to our lodge. The lodge was set in beautiful surroundings, giving a clear view of the forest. All staff were very friendly especially the site maintenance operative who was very approachable as he gave us clear instructions on how to use the hot tub. This was a very relaxing break enjoyed by my family. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very spacious. The highlight of this break was chilling in the hot tub at night with my family watching the sun go down. We will definitely return.

Just arrived back from The Sherwood Hideaway.

This is a beautiful location set far from the main road. It is amazingly peaceful, one of the quietest places i have ever visited in this country. A great place to relax and unwind.

I took two dogs and stayed in the contemporary VIP lodge. This was very luxurious and a good size. The dogs are made very welcome at the hideaway and there is plenty of space for them to get some exercise, including some very nice walks. The hot tub is amazing and cleaned daily by staff.
I believe most lodges look into the forest from what i could see, they are very private and not overlooked.
The kitchen within the lodges are well equipped, i easily cooked 4 nights in a row for 4 people at a time, plenty of utensils, cutlery etc.
The Wifi costs £5 for the duration of your stay, this allows up to two devices. Its not the quickest connection in the world however does the trick and mobile signal is almost non existent in the area so would recommend.

This was a very peaceful, relaxing break. I would highly recommend the Sherwood Hideaway to anyone looking for a peaceful relaxing few nights away.

We went away with another couple for a joint birthday getaway and it really was a good decision.
Although we did have some rain it cannot takeaway from the beauty of Sherwood Hideaway.. which really is hidden! You are a five minute drive from the town nearby which includes a takeaways and a HUGE Tesco, yet you feel so far away from all thing city like, as you really cannot hear or see anything but the forest and the odd deer.

Facilities in the lodge were amazing, such small details like robes, slippers, extra throws, cushions for the outside seating, some toiletries, plenty of towels and pillows, even dishwasher tablets and binbags. All we really bought whilst we were there was food and drink!

Although there is only lodges and a small reception at the Hideaway, it really is lovely. Yankee Candles, firewood and diffusers can be bought (and it’s not that expensive) and board games and/or cards are free to borrow. Only fault is that Wi-Fi was really not worth having as our lodge was so far out into the woods we couldn't get it, regardless of how many times we tried.

The master bedroom was beautiful, lovely four poster bed and en suite, however because me and my boyfriend didn't organise it, we stayed in the twin room.. Which we were told would have been the two single beds put together and a double duvet supplied - no such luck... And the locks on the wheels may as well not have been there.. Very easily moved. This resorted to us pushing the beds to one wall and putting towels around the wheels so they stayed together, not Ideal but still very comfortable and lovely duck down pillows and duvets.

Kitchen facilities were very modern and spacious, very generous fridge space, oven, dishwasher, and decent sized sink, ideal if it's not just two of you there. 4 plates, side plates, Living area was very comfortable, very deep sofas with lovely cushions and again throws if need bowls, knives forks Etc, beautiful little fire, adequate amount of plugs for gadgets, and a nice big TV with most Freeview channels (again a small problem as were we quite far out into the woods so didn't receive alot of signal)

The outside seating area was lovely, very spacious decking, large glass table, four chairs that had removable cushions and the hot tub which was WONDERFUL! We did spend a lot of time in there just day dreaming into the woods which was very relaxing… Sipping the champagne and eating the chocolates we were given upon arrival! (Hot tub cleaner was also very friendly and very helpful about things to do around the town nearby)
The whole place is incredibly clean and tidy, many little hidden extras in the drawers in bedrooms etc., very well equipped and stunning surroundings. Although I had my few niggles I’d stay again in a heartbeat, it was definitely worth the drive for such a relaxing weekend away.

Thankyou Hideaway for your de-stressing, relaxing weekend away!

Room Tip: Definitely pay the extra and have a woodland or rustic lodge!

We wanted to get away for the weekend and just relax as well as fit in a bit of site seeing and this was the perfect place! The lodges are really luxurious with a very comfortable four poster bed in the main bedroom and a very spacious twin room, which our 2.5 year old daughter slept very well in. Everything was provided for our weekend away, even down to the bin bags and dishwasher tablets (although we were only there for two days so if you are staying longer I should imagine that you would need to take some extra). On arrival we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates which went down really well...:) The hot tube is most definitely the highlight - looking out into Sherwood Forest and even though we did not have the weather this did not put us off as we were kept nice and warm under the bubbles! The park is really peaceful; however there is literally nothing there but lodges, therefore probably more suited for people who just want to get away from it all or to use as a base to explore the surrounding area. We had an amazing time and just wished we had booked for longer. Will definitely return and fingers crossed the sun will come with us too so we can enjoy a nice BBQ on the very spacious terrace. Thank you Sherwood Hideaway from The Johnson Family.

We wanted to get away from it all for a week as a family for the half term holiday, but not too far away! This was the perfect place. The lodges were fabulous and well equipped. We had a relaxing week, lovely walks, plenty of time in the hot tub! The lodges have plenty of space between them, so you don't feel overlooked. We just wish the English weather had been better, rain rain rain!.. But I can truly say this did not ruin our break because the lodge was lovely. We self catered all week, so no feedback on local pubs etc.. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay here. The lodges are well equipped and have fabulous interiors. We loved the hot tub and walks in the local area. We had pizza from the local takeaway one night which was really tasty. I have to give a special mention to the staff that were looking after the site, they checked the hot tubs every day and were so friendly and helpful.
The only one watch out is some areas are not yet landscaped, the booking staff did not tell us this and also told us our lodge would look into the woodland which it didn't. We didn't let it ruin our break but did comment that it should have been pointed out, however our was dealt with wet and we had no other issues.
We will definitely be going back.

Dear GMadcat
Thanks for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor, feedback is always welcomed.

We were delighted to hear all your positive comments about our staff, the lodge, hot tub, local walks and tasty pizza and that you had such an enjoyable time. Apologies that the lodge didn't have the view you were expecting and just to let you know, the landscaping of our new lodges is being undertaken as we speak.

We look forward to welcoming you back to The Sherwood Hideaway soon!
