The Falconry was well worth the money only £10 per person and at least 1.5 hours long. The walk around the grounds and the wine tasting with Leanne was also brilliant. You can’t fault the staff and the room was really clean, gardens beautiful. Stunning food everything was immaculate, will be recommended and I will visit again. If you don’t want to sit in the main busy dining area ask they will put u in the quiet old wine cellar.

It was way back in December 2017 that we booked a four day holiday for four people for the second week of June
As we had booked Signature Rooms together with the Silver Experience and had pre-booked our wine we expected a reasonable standard of service, this unfortunately was not to be the case.
Dinner on the first was a complete disaster we were shown to table number 156 in what I can only describe as dark, window less and very humid alcove adjacent to the buffet bar. Two of our party had ordered the Belly Pork only to be told that this was now off the menu, this was not the only time during our stay that we could not get what we had ordered.
Apparently if you are not in the restaurant by 7.13pm your choice is always limited.
Our waiter seemed to be very disinterested in serving us and although we had ordered the wine months earlier we had ask for it twice and we were half way through our meal before it was served.
The food on the buffet looked as if it had not been replenished during the dinner period and most of the vegetables looked burnt, overcooked and unpalatable.
After the meal we complained to the restaurant manager, and he sorted us out a new table, but even after, we had to endure a further three changes of tables during the course of our holiday.
Completely unacceptable !!!
Our room was on the forth floor, in the eaves and because of this and due to there being no air-conditioning we had to sleep with the windows open to try in vain to reduce the temperature in the room.
Our cleaning lady hah to carry around a large portable fan with her to be able to work as it was so hot in the rooms and corridors.
One piece of advice some of the Standard rooms on the forth floor have been refurbished. have walk-in showers and are in my mind much better than the Signature rooms just opposite.
The entertainment apart from the speciality acts was very poor and not worth watching have seen better at my Grandson's nursery school.
It no wonder that the entertainment theatre emptied out as soon as the speciality acts were over.
When you book a Warner's holiday you do not expect to have to share the facilities with outsiders, but the Spa and Restaurant seem to be an exceptions, making them sometimes overfull.
If you book this hotel you need to be very fit as there is a very, very long walk from the rooms to the restaurant.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the forth floor, there is no air-conditioning and they are far too hot. Save money on this floor by booking a Standard room.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your personal experiences at Thoresby Hall Hotel, following your recent visit.

Your experiences within the Sherwood Restaurant certainly are not in keeping with the usual high standards we pride oursleves on and uphold on a daily basis. I have therefore taken the time to discus your feedback at length with the Food & Beverage Manager who will be monitoring this closely going forward. Please accept our apologies if this marred your dining experience in anyway.

During the summer months the temperature can of course rise in the bedroom, though we are able to place fans into guest room on request should they be required to make the bedroom a more comfortable tempertaure.

Whilst entertainment is always open to individual interpretation, I am pleased to hear you found the visiting acts to be good. We have a new entertainments team that are delivering our product to fantastic feedback from the majority of our guests, though I am sorry if this did not meet your expectations on this occasion.

Thank you once again for your feedback, all feedback we recieve is greatly apprecaited and used were possible to improve our guests experience.

Kind Regrads,

Megan C

This was our second time at Thoresby and it was as good as the first. There is always something to do at Thoresby but if you want to explore further which we did there are some really good walks. We used the permissive paths nearby and walked quite a few miles.

We were rather dubious about booking a Warner break, being at the younger end of the client spectrum. We arrived late due to traffic and were disappointed to find that the archery and rifle shooting were fully booked already, the availability of these activities is really quite limited with restricted times and numbers. We had booked a historic room based on the ‘example’ rooms shown and were further disappointed to find that the room was relatively small and without a view of the grounds. However it was a comfortable room with a lovely en suite bathroom and had the benefit of automatically being a signature room. The two two hour spa experiences were amazing and the treatments absolutely divine, which has gone a long way to bringing our rating up to 4 stars. The food was nice, with quite a good choice of different starters, mains and desserts. The service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the Saturday night entertainment, featuring The Barricade Boys, followed by Katy and Shaun entertaining in the bar. The Sunday night entertainment was not as good but there was plenty to keep us amused. We did manage to book the Hawk Walk which was a great way to see the grounds as well as getting up close and personal with a variety of hawks and owls, and again has gone a long way to bringing the rating up. We met some lovely people, and the staff were all friendly and attentive. It is a stunning setting and we would stay again, however Warner need to think about how they advertise their rooms and increasing the availability/booking of activities.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent visit to Thoresby Hall Hotel.

I am sorry to hear on this occasion these two particular activities were fully booked, the sessions put on usually provide ample opportunity for many guests to participate, on this occasion the popularity was above the norm. Though I am very happy to see you were able to enjoy some of our other activities such as the Hawk Walk.

There are 53 historic bedrooms, and due to the nature of the Grade 1 listed building each bedroom is different in terms of size, layout and view, and these vary in price accordingly. These rooms certainly have pride of place within Thoresby Hall as as a team we strive to offer an excellent experience for our guests, therefore I am very sorry you felt this room did not meet your expectations.

I am delighted to hear you were able to enjoy all other aspects of your stay had the most enjoyable time whilst relaxing in Thoresby Spa, both using the spa facilities and during your treatments.

Thank you once again for your comments, all feedback we receive is very must appreciated.

We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to Thoresby Hall in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Megan C

Great weekend break to see the Barricade Boys who were fabulous.
Thoresby you have outstanding staff members in all departments, but special mentions to Nicole in Sherwood, Curtis and Rebecca in Blue Grill, and top marks to Paul for his outstanding garden tour..he should have his own tv series with his wonderful humour.
Another highlight was our walk with birds of prey which enabled me,who has had a bird phobia for over 60 years, to be brave enough to get up close to owls and other birds..a great experience.
Dinner in the Blue Grill was wonderful in such a gorgeous setting.
We enjoyed the entertainments and sports..John Sellars the pianist in Great Hall was a very pleasant prelude to dinner..the late lounge team very enthusiastic...but next time can we have a longer performance from the Barricade Boys an hour is not enough ha ha.

Signature room 402 very spacious, kept perfect by dear Mandy..a bit of a walk to the facilities but we kept up our fitness by using the stairs no lifts but appreciate that some less able guests were struggling with all the changes of level.

Gym had everything I needed to burn off some of yr delicious food
Pool was good but spa pool was so heavily chlorinated I had to leave after a few mins as it hurt my eyes but husband loved his spa experience.

The gardens are so beautiful especially the secret rose garden and the state rooms such a pleasure to sit and relax in
All in all a top notch weekend and
we would love to return thank you all at Thoresby.
