Took Mum out for lunch today. We dined in the old Victorian Kitchen of Rufford .We started with spicy Buttersquash soup followed by the carvery. Really we were spoilt for choice on the menu , the vegetarian was very tempting. Beautiful fresh vegetables I am only guessing they were freshly picked out of his lordships garden. Our plates were overflowing , the cranberry sauce was delightful. Sadly we had no room for desert. It took real will power to decline the trifle. Afterwards we took a stroll around the lake and gardens which are beautifully kept.Excellent value for money.Pleasent and attentive staff.

Lunch at the Savile.
Delicious starters (fishcakes/mushrooms on toast/melon) followed by excellent carvery – choice of at least half a dozen dishes (choice varies); included a roast, top quality meat pie, gammon, veggie quiche with good selection of nicely cooked veg (esp roast parsnips) and appropriate accompaniments. Good coffee too.
Very good value at full price, a real bargain with Groupon.
It would be nice to have a real ale on draught but that is being picky.

Only complaint: “there are disabled parking spaces at both Abbey and Mill car parks…” but even if any disabled spaces are available the car park is too far from the restaurant for a disabled person (not wheelchair user) to walk in one go. Is this good enough for a County Council facility ? I suggest NO !

I have seen this restaurant a few times when walking around the lovely park and wanted to go so today made the point of going and was not disappointed. Me and my wife both had the gammon and it was very nice. The veg was spot on with a special mention for the cauliflower cheese which was great. Deff worth a visit and will return again as i cannot remember the last carvery to even come close to this.

been a few times, the food has always been excellent with friendly service. pre-booking is a must at weekends as the restaurant gets busy. not surprising as the park is busy at the weekends and the Savile offers great value for food

first walked through the door and the staff seemed lovely, table was booked for 12, half past 12 we were still sat waiting to go up to the carvery, eventually the waitress said we could go up, plates were clean, but cold, staff seemed nice and the meat was lovely, got to the veg and the staff served you your veg and potatoes. 2 roast potatoes i was given, no mash available. the carrots seemed like they were frozen. gravey was very nice. ate our dinner. overall the meal was okay. just disappointed that we were unable to select what roast potatoes we wanted or the amount of veg. pudding was extremely nice, very impressed. took a very long time to clear pudding plates, as it was mothers day, it was a pre selected meal, and there was tea and coffee after desert. however again it took a long time to get our coffees. It was gone past half 1, in which the next lot of table bookings were booked for. and the main greeter said to us, i don't mean to rush you but your tables booked till half 1. we thought this was rude, not only was it your fault that you was running half an hour late but it took a long time to order our deserts and coffees. Overall we will not be coming back, due to the rude staff at the end. we were made to feel it was our fault YOU were running late.
