“Dormer Cottage is an excellent place for holiday - we felt very comfortable.”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The whole location was in excellent shape, everything was absolutely clean. The kitchen was very well equipped. The furniture was very well chosen and suited extraordinarily well to the lovely cottage. The fireplace was impressive. During our stay at Dormer Cottage the weather was so brilliant, there was no need to start a fire.

We were allowed to use the nice garden. There our visit at Dormer Cottage started with prepared English tea and milk and self-made shortbread that tasted delicious. What a warm welcome! The owner cared for everything. Every room was decorated with nice flowers.

Living in this remarkable cottage even gave us an idea of life in medieval times. It was a great pleasure to stay in this place.

We discovered the nearby area and had a great time in: Stowe, Hatfield House, Knebsworth House, Oxford, Cliveden House and Leighton Buzzard with its remarkable church and the wonderful wooden angels. By the way the church in Stewkley is historic and worth a visit as well! We also glanced shortly on Silverstone and Milton Keynes .

There are so many places left to visit in Buckinghamshire - hopefully we come back one day. Surely we will try to stay again at Dormer Cottage.

“Quaint olde worlde cottage”
Reviewed 7 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The location was good for visiting a variety of National Trust properties and Bletchley Park. There is a lovely Indian restaurant serving delicious food at one end of the village (which is one long main street), a friendly pub a hundred or so metres from the property but not much else. However, Milton Keynes is close to hand as is Leighton Buzzard and a few small villages with eating establishments if you want to eat out. We did a mixture of eating in and out as the kitchen was well equipped so made cooking a few meals not a problem. The cottage is olde worlde with low beams so could be a problem if you are tall, as the friend who came with us found out but he only banged his head once and learnt from that mistake. The lighting isn't so good, especially if you want to read at night but the cottage is nice and warm so even in the most dreadful weather you won't be cold. The owner is very welcoming and gives you a very detailed introduction to the cottage, along with something tasty and homemade (we got shortbread and needless to say it didn't hang around long as who doesn't love it!). The stairs down from the main bedroom are quite steep which won't suit those with mobility issues but if there is no-one in the connecting twin room you can go through, either to use the bathroom or to go down the main stairs which aren't as steep. We used both and as I am low in height I didn't have any problems anyway :-) We had a lovely stay and I would recommend the cottage, but only for adults with no mobility problems.

Liked best: Well equipped kitchen & good heating
Liked least: Noise from traffic on main road as windows not double glazed (noticeable when in bed)
