Apartment 15 was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, a great size and had every little household item we needed. The bed in the master bedroom was huge and sooooo comfortable - we both slept really well :) Jean, the owner, was excellent with her communications before we left and arranged for her housekeeper to meet us there and show us round and explain everything. There was also plenty of info about things to do on the island and a fast Internet connection. The only thing not working was the tv but that was a good thing for us. As others have reported, the apartment block is situated right next to the busy coast road and the noise from buses and trucks braking round the corner and accelerating up the hill isn't great when you're by the pool and out on the balcony. Once inside with the door shut though you don't hear it at all, nor do you hear it when on the beach. We would strongly recommend hiring a car because there isn't much near the block, and there are very few pavements by the busy road, but with a car it's only a few minutes to get to Holetown and Speightstown. (The apartments have ample parking and you feel very safe leaving cars there overnight as they have a security guard on the boom gate). Some of the yellow bus drivers are crazy - in fact we came across a bus that had just overturned, injuring 16 passengers :-/ Mullins Beach Bar and the Lone Star restaurant were both lovely places for lunch just 5 mins drive away. We also had delicious pizzas at Spago at The Sandpiper Resort, v
near Holetown. All in all a lovely place to stay, a good location for exploring the island, a beautiful beach just over the road and a wonderfully equipped and decorated, clean and spacious apartment - oh, and awesome value for money!

We have just returned from two weeks staying at lantana Resort. The location was fanyastic, positioned a one minute walk from some of the nicest beaches on the West Coast in St James. This was our second visit. The first holiday we stayed in the front block, this we must say was a totally different experience. Grt views, but a lot of noise from the road.... something the £15million villas opposite must experience too. Having said that, the rear block, has NO noise whatsoever, and when returning next time, will be sure to book an apartement in the rear, second block. having said all that, its grt value for money, and a lovely block to look at. We stayed at no 27, and lookforward to returning again

Room Tip: Ground floor have better access to the pool

Lantana 17 looks lovely on the website, giving the impression of a nice apartment in an idyllic setting near the beach. However what it fails to mention is that it the apartment is right on the corner of a very busy main road right next to the bus stop. This is a major downfall if you want to a) sleep b) relax either on the balcony, by the pool or in the apartment itself.
We were told by Candelisa, the company that manage the apartment that the house manager would be there to meet us on arrival, which she was. One of the first things she said to us was ‘ they did tell you it was on a busy noisy road didn’t they?’ Well they hadn’t. In fact Candelisa had said it was quiet!
Some of the other issues we had were:
• Air con not working in the living room when we arrived. We were told it was probably the batteries and that we should go out and get some - not ideal after a long journey
• Cold water – we had to locate the switch to turn the boiler on and wait before we could have a shower – again not ideal after a long journey
• Towels with big brown stains on them in the master suite and more stained towels in the cupboards
• Only one aircon controller between the two smaller bedrooms for the aircon. Not ideal if you want to change the temperature in the middle of the night! (or any other time really)
• No internet even though it says on the advert on the internet that there is. Initially the house manager said there was none and couldn’t possibly be the case as there was no telephone line even. When I said it was on the ad she called the owner who said we ‘might’ be able to get on to the Candelisa network if we stood at the far end of the pool. However, there was no connection for most of our stay. The television connection didn’t work either.
• Very minimal info given to us regarding the apartment and surrounding area on arrival by the house manager. This would have been less of a problem had the internet been working so we could have found out the info we needed ourselves.
• An illuminated main bedroom due to the headlights coming around the corner on the main room and the curtains being too thin to block this out. I had to stand on a chair and hang towels over the curtain rail every night to try and block this out so I could get some sleep.
• Paying for cleaning that was supposed to be carried out once a week but didn’t actually happen

We bumped into the house manager during our stay at a local bar and explained the issues we were having. She said she would come around within the next couple of days but never showed up.

The other thing regarding the location of the apartment is that it is midway between two towns with very little by way of amenities close by (one very small shop and a rum bar) so not good for those without a car. The nearest place to eat is a 15 minute walk. There is a small supermarket a 10 minute walk away but really only good for basics. With either option you have to walk along the busy road (some pavement but not much). It feels quite dangerous given some drivers notion of what is acceptable passing space!

This was my first trip to Barbados and I was really looking forward to something rather special. It does seem like a lovely island, however were I to return I would not stay at this apartment complex or book through Candelisa who seem to be very much focused on taking the money rather than the enjoyment of their guests.

We regret you had a bad experience at Lantana 17. For clarification, some units are managed by individual unit owners. The available advertising information on TripAdvisor, Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Booking.com and other travel websites, however, most commonly refers to the apartments managed and advertised by Island Villas in Barbados. Those apartments all comply with the following rental standards:
- Daily housekeeping unless otherwise desired by the guest
- Wireless internet
- Cable TV
- Telephone
- Air-conditioning in all bedrooms
- Self-catering apartment
- Fully-equipped kitchen
- Safe
- Fresh linens and towels/beach towels included
- Balcony
- Parking
- Concierge services
- Dedicated property manager who meets with guests after arrival
- Welcome pack with apartment information

The condos are new, well equipped and across the street from a quiet beach. The location is between Holetown and Speightstown but not very convenient to anything within walking distance. If you do walk, you have to be very careful because the road is narrow, the traffic is fast and there are not always sidewalks. It is quite easy to get around by bus, however and they run often and only cost $1.00 each way (US) We had a rental car but I preferred to take the bus bc I didn't like driving on the narrow roads.

We stayed in Apt. 1 on the first floor from which you could walk right out to the pool. We could not see the ocean but I think the 3rd floor apartments probably had a very nice view. Ours had a TV which got Miami stations and the internet was very good. I was not bothered by the traffic at all.

We also took taxis and found the people of Barbados to be very friendly and helpful. Fun things we did included the Jolly Roger Cruise where we snorkeled and saw some turtles, Harrison Caves and Aerial Trek zip lining. Restaurants we enjoyed were Just Grillin, Lone Star, Surfside, Caribas, and Spago at Settler's Beach. We also found a fun local bar called the Golden Anchor.

If you're traveling with a family or group and don't want to pay hotel prices, these would be a very good option. It felt very safe and there was always a security guard on duty at night.

These apartments are newly built, they are split into 2 blocks. 1-21 and the other around the back assume. 22 - 40 s.... we stayed in no 17, well equipped, comfortable, 3 bedrooms ( master, a 2 beds and 2 x bunkbeds.) nicely furnished with a good kitchen everything you could think of etc., living room. patio etc. nearby pool. all thumbs up. BUT, THIS PLACE IS ON A NOISY BUSY MAIN ROAD, IF YOU ARE NOISE SENSITIVE AND LIKE TO SLEEP LATE, FORGET IT.!!! the girl i spoke to when i booked said it yes its quiet, WELL SHES CLEARLY NOT BEEN HERE!! Also wi fi is almost non existent. so if thats important to you, dont believe the rumour of wi fi at no 17... weston is a secluded fishing village that sells fish and one small shop. the other reviewer says nearby restaurants. IT HAS NONE. !! it is 4km from Speightstown and 4km from Holetown.. the nearest place to grab a bite is a shop that does a promotional barbeque MAYBE on a friday or sat night, the nearest TOP place to eat is a 15 minute walk to the EXPENSIVE LONE STAR, next to the Ramshackle cafe and beach bar and also Ju Ju s cafe,, dont think you are in the midst of bars etc..YOU ARE NOT. DONT BE MISLEAD ...if you are in apartment 22 onwards i should think its quieter, however, i would not re book because.of the location.

We appreciate your feedback which supports our continuous efforts to improve our services and overall customer experience.
To address the comments made by "sunnyhoney1", there are a selection of apartments that are professionally managed by Island Villas Ltd which all have the same amenities and standards, including wireless Internet, daily housekeeping, Cable TV, a safe, concierge service. Unit 17 is not one of the units managed by Island Villas Ltd, and we therefore cannot comment on the unit's amenities.
The TripAdvisor website states that Lantana is minutes away from Lonestar Restaurant. While it might not be walking distance, the restaurant can be reached within five minutes' drive or less. Mullins Beach is approximately 10 minute's drive from the resort, however, Alleyne's Bay and miles of sandy beach are accessible just opposite of Lantana.
